We want to say a huge thank you to our community here in Raton.
This post is coming much later than we planned, or intended, but it comes with a lot of genuine gratitude.
The past couple weeks have been a whirlwind for us. We’ve been making real progress updating the Art Space building, while also moving forward on plans to expand our Xerces Pollinator Habitat into a full food-producing community garden.
Phase 1 is set to begin this spring and will introduce infrastructure for a real community garden and orchard. Including raised beds, a shared growing space, and the start of a more accessible, community-driven food system.
At the same time, our arts programming is falling into place. It’s been a lot, but it’s all starting to take shape in a really exciting way.
We Saved You a Seat turned out to be a truly awesome, and successful showcase.
Thank you to the artists who trusted us and brought so much creativity and care into their work. These pieces gave people something to connect with, and that meant everything.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, and helped make the event feel so alive. The energy in the room was real, and we’re grateful you were part of it.
The event took place in a rented space, but we’re looking forward to welcoming you into Raton Art Space soon.
We’ll be opening things up for workshops, classes, and hands-on events, and we can’t wait to have our friends and the community in the space creating and having fun.
We are definitely still looking for folks with experience in arts, media, woodworking, gardening and any other creative mediums who are interested in leading popup classes or an ongoing series to join our arts programming, we offer materials and stipends. We're also looking for additional board members we can bring into the fold to be a part of what we're building!
This is just the beginning, and we’re really glad you’re here with us.
Thank you!
