🇺🇸 A Special Flag Ceremony at the Historic Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse 🇺🇸
On the evening of August 13, 2026, members of our community gathered at the Historic Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse for a special ceremony to lower this flag after nearly five years of faithful service above our historic building.
This was no ordinary flag.
Gifted by Jordan Simon in honor of all who have served, this flag once flew over the United States Capitol. On August 21, 2021, she was raised above the Historic Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse, where she proudly flew through nearly five years of sun, wind, snow, and changing seasons.
When time and weather finally took their toll on her fabric, it was decided that this special flag would not be retired in the traditional manner. Instead, she would be lowered with dignity, preserved, and placed on display inside the schoolhouse so that her story could continue to be shared with future generations.
Boy Scout Troop 3 of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, conducted the flag-changing ceremony with tremendous care, dedication, and pride. Their service was especially meaningful with Jordan Simon, himself an Eagle Scout, in attendance to witness the flag he had gifted to our community being respectfully lowered and preserved.
Friends, families, members of the Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse Board, and other special guests gathered for the occasion, creating a fitting tribute to a flag that had become part of the history of both the schoolhouse and the community it serves.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Boy Scout Troop 3 for the tremendous job they did replacing our flag and for the respect and pride they displayed throughout the ceremony.
This flag now remains inside the Historic Twin Lakes Community Schoolhouse, preserved as a reminder of those who have served, the community that gathered beneath her, and the nearly five years she proudly watched over this special place.
