While friends and family may see an innocent video, predators can see something entirely different. Public accounts featuring children often attract people who save, share, and consume content for harmful reasons.

Children deserve privacy, protection, and the freedom to grow up without an audience of strangers analyzing their lives.

Before helping your child build a following, ask yourself: is the attention worth the risk?

Children need a childhood, not a platform.

Most offenders don't look dangerous.

They look normal. They blend in. Many are willing to talk to children online while parents are sitting just feet away.

The internet has become one of the primary places predators target children, yet too many people still treat online exploitation like it is less urgent than threats we see in public.

Law enforcement patrols our roads proactively to stop danger before lives are lost. We need the same mindset online.

Protecting children today means being proactive where predators are searching for them.

• Raymond Sulak�Awaiting sentencing. Federal prosecutors are seeking 10 years
• Patrick J. McWhinney�Pleaded guilty and awaiting sentencing
