Do you enjoy wine and helping to restore our Rappahannock River?🌱

If you answered yes to these, then head on over to grab a bottle of locally sourced wine from DuCard Vineyards. With the purchase of a bottle of wine, you receive a free tree sapling!

But why plant a tree? Well, trees are one of nature’s best allies in supporting the Rappahannock River watershed, by absorbing carbon pollution, reducing soil erosion, runoff, and filtering harmful chemicals, protecting local waterways, and providing habitats for wildlife, including songbirds we all love to hear in our backyards.

You won’t be sneezing about this plant. 🤧

Sneezeweed is a daisy-like perennial that blooms from late summer to mid-fall. A favorite of pollinators, like monarchs and swallowtails, this plant will bring a burst of color and activity to any garden. Known for it’s hearty, robust growth, Sneezeweed can thrive under any growing circumstances and is known to be a fierce competitor against invasive species.

Fun fact: Sneezeweed’s common name stems from the original use of the plant’s dried petals as an medicinal inhalant, which caused sneezing. The uses for this plant varied from treating head-colds and fevers, to warding away unwanted spirits.

Underrated but Unforgettable! Meet the Black Gum Tree — a hidden gem in the landscape world! This shade tree stuns in fall with a vibrant display of reds, oranges, and purples — talk about a seasonal showstopper!

💧 Got soggy soil? No problem. Black Gum thrives in wet conditions, making it perfect for areas prone to saturation.

🐝 Spring brings tiny white flowers that may seem modest, but they’re a magnet for pollinators, songbirds, and home to over 25 native caterpillar species!

Fun Fact: The nectar from these blooms creates the iconic Tupelo Honey—a sweet Southern delicacy. 🍯

Add some color, support pollinators, and sweeten your yard — one tree at a time.
