Is your garden looking crowded? Dividing perennials will allow you to rearrange your garden ahead of winter. Next spring your newly divided perennials will be lush, have vigorous blooms, and add delight to your landscape.

Not all plants benefit from fall division, late-summer and fall-blooming perennials will usually do better when divided in the spring, when the foliage isn’t also supporting flowers.

Note: some perennials, such as daylilies, respond favorably to division regardless of the season.

Our 65th Year Club Fundraiser is happening - and we need volunteers to help gather greens! 🌲🌿 Join us Saturday, October 10, 9-11 AM. Meet at 2900 Canyon Lake Drive (Education Garden parking lot behind the Activities Center). We’ll carpool to Roubaix Lake to collect Kinnikinnick, Oregon Grape, and Black Hills Spruce. Hardy hibiscus Hibiscus moscheutos is a showstopping perennial that can bring huge, colorful flowers to a South Dakota garden. Unlike the tropical hibiscus, which is commonly sold for patios and containers, hardy hibiscus can survive South Dakota winters when the right variety is chosen and it is given an appropriate growing location.
