Recently, we received a "Red Ball" tennis set from the United States Tennis Association - USTA (Official). This is a good way to get young kids interested in tennis because the racquets are lighter and the balls have less bounce (so short legs don't have to chase balls across long courts!)
But how could we decide who should get this gift?
Well, Miss Kate at the Elk Rapids District Library said, why not let EVERY kid get them?
This set will be available in the "Library of Things" at the Elk Rapids District Library for kids to check out to get a feel for the game of tennis!

In case you missed it...
This week, we had a great gathering of people engaged in food work all over northern Michigan (at the amazing King Orchards!) to talk about increasing food donations in Michigan.
There were Elk Rapids Rotary Club members, our friends from Acme Christian Thrift Store and Food Pantry, Groundwork Center, Northwest Food Coalition, Food Rescue of Goodwill Northern Michigan, the Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, and so many more great organizations!

War! What is good for?
Absolutely nothing, unless it's the penny war at Lakeland Elementary School!
Those kids fought a war, and the Little Free Food won!

If you missed it, you missed a really good night!
We haven't finished the tally yet, but a good time was had by all, including one community member who yelled "bingo" THREE times for a whopping total of $175 in winnings!
The food, the games, the company, and the whole night was a vibe we hope to experience again soon.
