Last Friday, partners gathered to break ground for Peak View II, a below-market-rate apartment complex coming to Spearfish!

The development will bring 30 units and 52 bedrooms to income-qualifying families just off North 27th Street. 🏠

Peak View II is the result of years of partnership across sectors. The complex is the first housing development made possible through Congressionally Directed Spending secured for the South Dakota Ellsworth Development Authority by U.S. Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds.

We are also grateful for Buxton Enterprises, Lloyd Companies, the City of Spearfish, and the South Dakota Housing Development Authority for their commitment to meeting the housing needs of our region's growing population.

Thank you for sharing your voices! 🥳

Nearly 500 Black Hills residents helped choose an issue area to benefit from a $200,000 investment through 2027.

🔷Quality Care for Elders received the most votes (39%)!🔷

Over the next few months, our team will carefully review your survey responses and design an investment plan that reflects your input.

One theme we've already noticed is the importance of recognizing that aging is a journey we all share, and that elders deserve to feel respected, valued, and cared for.

As one community member said, "Aging is a journey that connects every family across Western South Dakota."

🎊We're excited to announce the first round of grants this fall and continue exploring this important issue next year!🎊

Big congratulations to our very own Eric Zimmer on the release of his book: Bark the Beaver Helps the Black Hills Thrive! 🦫

The special children's book commemorates the Black Hills Parks & Forests Association 80th Anniversary and BHACF's 20th. Over the weekend, the BHPFA held an event as part of a ribbon cutting for its new office in downtown Custer.

During the gathering, Eric (and his daughter, Stevie) read and signed copies of his book for local families. All proceeds from the book will help the BHPFA turn their office into a space where stories, landscapes, and people connect. 🌲
