2026 Rapid City Kid's Fishing Day Saturday June 6th at Memorial Park Rapid City - Thanks to all the great volunteers that made this happen! (Last photo shows most, but not all)

We were blown away by the amount of people that showed up today. Unfortunately, this year we were only capable of supporting the first 150 people as we posted. We appreciate all of you and we will be discussing ways of being able to grow this event the future.

It's Tournament week!! We would like to thank everyone who's signed up. Just a reminder: Friday night's rules meeting is at 6:30 PM at Platte Creek Store, where you can sign your team up for the Calcutta and buy a square. There will be a custom knife made by Brad Mork for which we will be selling raffle tickets, and we will have a kids' drawing for a fishing pole.

Please mark the date and share this fun kid’s event with your friends
Registration begins at 8:00
Event is limited to 150 kids due to time and space restrictions.
Free rod/reel/T-shirt for participants.
Prizes will be awarded for the most, largest and smallest fish caught.
Two age categories: 5-9 and 10-15.
The fish caught will be cleaned and iced for the kids to take home.

Day 1: 1st Place - 4.18 lb Carp - Team 18
2nd Place - 1.3 lb Catfish - Team 14
Day 3: 1st Place - 1.41 lb Catfish - Team 11
2nd Place - 1.3 lb Catfish - Team 7

Biggest Walleye:
Day 1: 25¼ " - Team 6
Day 2: 25" - Team 6

97 Walleyes were caught on Saturday and 76 on Sunday. All fish presented to tournament officials were released alive, with no penalties incurred for dead fish.

The Rick Garner Memorial was awarded to Team #17.

A new memorial award was added this year in cooperation with the family of Mike Erhart. Two rods were awarded to the third-place team in Mike's memory. The rods were inscribed "2026 Mike Erhart Memorial; RCFD St #3" in honor of Mike's many years with the Rapid City Fire Department at Station #3.

Thank you to everyone that attended the tournament. If you appreciate events like these, please consider becoming more active in the club. Our membership has suffered since the 2019 Covid epidemic, and the recent passing of our beloved Vice President, Loren Kasuske has left us short on officers. Events like this do not happen by accident. They require time, talent, and dedication. Perhaps it's time you considered making a larger contribution?
