Black Hills Badges For Hope

This is what community looks like.

A local business sponsors an event.
A volunteer gives their time.
Someone drops a donation in the bucket.
A monthly donor gives $10.
A first responder gives a kid their time and attention.

Individually, these things might seem small.

Together, they allow Black Hills Badges for Hope to do some pretty incredible things.

We couldn't do this work without the people who continue to show up. 💙

🎄 We're getting ready for Badges N’ Kids!

December will be here before we know it, and our team is already working behind the scenes to make this year's program possible.

Badges N’ Kids gives kids in our community an opportunity to shop alongside local first responders and experience a Christmas they may not otherwise have.

But an event like this doesn't happen overnight.

It takes volunteers, donors, planning and a whole lot of community support.

And we're getting to work! 💙

What if $10 a month could make a difference?

It can.

Monthly giving provides Black Hills Badges for Hope with dependable support throughout the year, allowing us to plan ahead and continue supporting first responder families and programs like Badges N’ Kids.

$10 a month may not feel like a lot on its own.

But when a community comes together, those small monthly gifts become something much bigger.

💙 $10 a month.
💙 $120 a year.
💙 A community showing up all year long.

Black Hills Badges for Hope extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Deputy Katherine Frank of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office.

At just 26 years old, Deputy Frank made the ultimate sacrifice in service to her community, passing away from injuries sustained in the line of duty. Her dedication to serving others, including her final act of generosity as an organ donor, leaves a lasting impact.

We are keeping her loved ones and the entire Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office in our thoughts and prayers as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. We stand with our fellow law enforcement family during this difficult time.

Rest in peace, Deputy Kat. Your service will not be forgotten. 💙

Behind every badge is a person. A spouse. A parent. A child. A family.

And when a first responder is seriously injured or loses their life in the line of duty, the impact reaches far beyond the person wearing the badge.

Black Hills Badges for Hope exists to support those families and make sure they know their community stands behind them.

We’re proud to do that work right here in the Black Hills. 💙

We stand with the family, colleagues, friends and community of the injured Deputy from Minnehaha County. Our prayers go out to the family and the Deputy. We ask you to stand with us in support.

Many prayers please!

Here’s your sign to make your Christmas giving a little easier this year.

Become a monthly donor to Black Hills Badges for Hope.

Instead of remembering to donate when Christmas gets closer, you can make a small monthly contribution and help us prepare for programs like Badges N’ Kids all year long.

Our goal this year is to take more than 300 kids shopping for Christmas, and getting donations in early helps us plan for that goal with confidence.

Small monthly gifts can make a big difference when a whole community gets behind them.

If you’re already thinking about Christmas giving, why not start now?

Sometimes supporting first responders means recognizing the work they do every day.

Sometimes it means showing up for their families when something goes terribly wrong.

Our primary mission at Black Hills Badges for Hope is to support the families of officers lost or injured in the line of duty.

It’s a mission we hope we never have to fulfill.

But we believe in being prepared to show up when a family needs us—not just with words, but with real support and a willingness to walk alongside them through whatever comes next.

That’s what community is supposed to do. Show up when it matters.

Our mission has always been about standing beside first responders and their families when they need support the most.

Black Hills Badges for Hope was created to help families of officers who have been lost or injured in the line of duty, while also building meaningful relationships between first responders and the kids in our community.

From scholarships to Badges N’ Kids, we’re here to serve, support and remind these families that they aren’t alone.

That’s what Black Hills Badges for Hope is all about. 💙
