Post 22 awarded two (2) $500 scholarships last evening to the 2nd and 3rd place winners of our Boys State scholarship competition. These scholarships are sponsored by our Finance Officer and recognize those boys who represent us well at SD Boys State. The winner of our $1,000 scholarship will be recognized at our July meeting (July 15th 2026). Congratulations Gentlemen and thank you for "knocking it out of the park" at Boys State!

Post 22 Baseball Weekly Schedule | June 16–21

Another busy week of baseball is ahead for the Hardhats, Bullets, Expos, and Cadets! The Hardhats head to Omaha for tournament action while the Bullets and Expos host The Big Stick Tournament at The Fitz. The Cadets hit the road for games in Pierre and Gillette.

Make plans to catch a game, support our players, and cheer on Post 22 Baseball all week long!

Congratulations to the Post 22 Bullets on claiming the Pete Lien Tournament Championship!

The championship game featured an exciting matchup between the Bullets and the Post 330 Risers, with the Bullets securing the title by a final score of 7-4.

A tremendous effort by the players and coaches all weekend long. Your hard work, determination, and teamwork were on full display as you battled your way to the championship.

Thank you to Post 320 for hosting a fantastic tournament and providing a great experience for all of the teams, players, and families involved.

Way to go, Bullets! 💙⚾❤️

A group picture of the "West River" Boys, Counselors, Junior Counselors, and the Director (Doug Harris). 17 of the boys were from Post 22, 2 each from Hot Springs, Sturgis, Lemmon and Spearfish; 1 each from Lead, Phillip, and New Underwood. We had Counselors who returned from the Military Academy at West Point (Joe Juenger), and Harvard (Blixa Broussard), as well as last year's Boys Nation (Lewis Carlyle) and several local area men (Grant Lolley, Evan Juelfs, and Kanin Booth) who also came out to help.

Our Squadron 22 Sons Of The American Legion (SAL) knocked it out of the park this year in their support of SD Boys and Girls State. They sponsored 3 boys and 3 girls. Thanks to all of our Sons members and their supporters who raise money throughout the year to help local youth programs! Post 22 is sending 18 Rapid City boys to SD Boys State, and Unit 22 is sending 22 girls to SD Girls State.

Post 22's Americanism "Poster Boy" (Lewis Carlyle) competed at the American Legion National Oratorical Contest today in Michigan. He was representing
The American Legion Department of South Dakota . He did not disappoint! He made it to the Semi-Finals, but did not move forward to the Finals. His efforts and amazing talents earned him $4,000 at Nationals, $1,500 from State, $2,000 from Post 22, and another $1,000 scholarship from SD Boys State. That's $8.5K from his first interview in March of 2025 for Boys State until his performance at Nationals in May of 2026. He worked hard for all of it, and we couldn't possibly be more impressed and proud of him!! Thank you for taking part in our Americanism programs!

Lewis Carlyle (Post 22's/District 2 representative) wins the State Oratorical Competition!! For his efforts, he picks up a $1,000 scholarship from Post 22 and a $1,500 scholarship from the SD American Legion. He will compete for up to $25,000 at the National competition in May. The 22nd of February was also his birthday, so the audience put him up on stage and sang Happy Birthday. CONGRATULATIONS Lewis!!
