Take ACTion has been busy the last two days filming their next short film. Huge thanks to Tonya from Ross Johnson Design, Reed & Hunter, YFS - Stronger Youth & Connect programs, WAVI, and RCAS for supporting these efforts.

We would also like to thank the Barb family for opening their home to the team and film crew. We captured great footage for the film.

It was a great day at the 2025 Senior Citizen Prom. Huge shout out to Home Instead, West Hills Village, Dr Tucker, and the Hershey Foundation for sponsoring this intergenerational event. We also want to thank Elks Theatre, Fork Real Cafe and the Stevens Culinary Arts class for their contributions to the day.

Dakota Blend played great music and we greatly appreciated Miss South Dakota - Joelle Simpson for spending the afternoon with us and playing her harp for all to enjoy.

We are so excited for the 2025 Senior Citizen Prom on May 3rd. We have an afternoon of fun, food, and dancing planned from 1 - 4 p.m. at the Minneluzahan Senior Citizen Center - at 315 N. Street.

We are especially excited to announce that Amelia Schaefbauer received a 2025 Hershey Heartwarming Young Heroes Youth Grant Award for the Senior Citizen Prom this year. Huge shout out to the Hershey Company and the Youth Service America organization. We greatly appreciate your support for our community event.

We are a bit late at posting, but Take ACTion had a great experience at the Sioux City International Film Festival.

Eight young people alongside adult mentors attended the 19th Annual Sioux City International Film Festival thanks to generous donors of the Rapid City Public School Foundation. Out of 192 film submissions, the Take ACTion short film, “Inner Voice,” was selected as one of 60 films screened at the festival. Team members were excited to see their film on the big screen with many other young people, college students, festival attendees, and filmmakers in the audience.

The experience provided amazing learning experiences including workshops and panels with filmmakers and screenwriters, an awards ceremony, and an after party of pizza, games, and networking. Take ACTion and other high school students were honored to spend an hour visiting with and learning from Screenwriter, Anna Wienstein. Anna has developed features and television series with producers and directors such as Robert Mitas (Ratched), Jay Russell (The Water Horse), and Antonia Bogdanovich (She's Funny That Way). Students also got the opportunity to attend a workshop facilitated by John Gray, a New York writer-director-producer.

The team also enjoyed exploring the area while we were there.

Inner Voice | Dir. by Kymbyr Saner, Hunter Herzog, & Reed Ellefson

Log Line: This film takes you through a young person's journey of dealing with anxiety and depression.

Midwest Mention: The Inner Voice short film was produced in Rapid City, SD. The Take ACTion team is a youth-led community engagement theatre group that writes and performs skits that are relevant to young people. Through community partnership support, they create short films from these skits annually. The film focuses on the health and anxiety that many young people can relate to.

Senior citizens in Rapid City experienced a day filled with joy and celebration at the 9th Annual Senior Citizen Prom.

It was another great Senior Citizen Prom!! So many great memories with this intergenerational event. Huge thanks to Minneluzahan Senior Center, YSA - Hershey’s Heartwarming Award, Black Hills Psychology Associates and the various supporters of the prom.

Thanks to all the amazing young people who created a memorable afternoon for many in our community!!
