Floors are being refinished now on the second floor of the McGillycuddy house. Most of the original flooring remained in the house, even though the second floor was removed in the mid-1900s. Gaps in the flooring showed where the upstairs walls once were and allowed us to recreate the floor plan. The parallel grooves cut into the floor are from the time electrical wiring was first installed.

Though things look quiet from the outside, progress is steady on the interior of the Historic McGillycuddy House. This photo shows the framing that's been done around the windows to support the deep boxes required by the thick walls. One thing you can't really see here, but which is nearly finished throughout the house is the restoration of the original window frames. More photos to come.
