Shire of Schattentor, SCA

Shire of Schattentor, SCA Located in the Black Hills of SD, we are a group of historical re-creationists who learn and craft with skills of times gone by.

We are all enthusiasts of history and what it can teach us about living a good life in today's modern, hectic world. Shire meetings are currently in person at the Hardee's on Haines Ave. near the mall on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:00 pm Mountain Time. We have a second meeting by Zoom on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 pm, with the Zoom link announced on our group page, here: https:/

Archery practice is held 10:00 am to noon every Sunday (weather permitting) at SD Game, Fish and Parks' Outdoor Campus West on Sturgis Rd. in Rapid City with limited loaner equipment available. Fighter practice is held on Sundays starting at 2 pm and running until people are ready to quit. During the summer (weather permitting) it's held Founder's Park near the volley ball court and big cement fish (officially named Rapid Fish) on Omaha Street. During the winter it's held in the Fraser Gym on the School of Mines campus. Arts and Sciences activities are scheduled at the discretion of our A&S minister and are announced on our group page. Don't Forget!!!!

This weekend we have a couple of things going on.

Bardic Circle Practice at Josh's house from 2-4 on Saturday 8/15

We will hopefully be working on a new song for our upcoming Feathers and Steel event

Show and Tell Demo at the Rapid City Library

The Shire of Schattentor will be hosting a Show and Tell demo at the Rapid City Library on Sunday 8/16 from 2-4 in the afternoon in the Community Room.

If you are interested in the shire and everything, we do this will be a great chance to meet people and get your hands on some real clothing, armor, and bows inspired by the medieval period.

We will also have a kids craft table where the kids will make their own toy and we will have variety of medieval inspired coloring pages and bookmarks for you take home.

There will be board games, lawn games, armored combat and an optional fundraiser lunch.

Garb is not required so if you are new to the Shire of Schattentor come on out and meet everybody.

The fundraiser lunch cost 10 dollars with all proceeds going to fund our educational outreach efforts and events.
