KSAR update:
This summer will mark five years since the NATO withdrawal from Afghanistan and many of you, like us, constantly keep the working dogs in your thoughts. We have negotiated the release and rehoming of many elderly working dogs and it is a constant effort, even though we often cannot speak publicly about it. This spring we were able to bring in a group of elderly K9s, most of whom I knew personally, and have given them the kindest retirements we are able to. They are loved. And just earlier this month, we had a quite shocking rescue--we found a former working dog on the side of the road in the outskirts of town. Again, this is a dog whose work history is known, but where she's been for five years is a mystery. I appreciate the discretion that all of you have when talking about the working dogs, because everything about them is contentious. But you deserve to see their happy faces as much as we do. I know you all understand why we don't provide more information about them publicly, even here, and I hope their smiles bring some light to your day.

Thank you so much, to every one of our supporters and all of you that believe in the goodness of the work we do even when I'm too tired to articulate it as well as it deserves.

Just a few days ago we were scarily behind on raising funds for our May expenses, but you made it happen. Yes, we're usually behind on our bills, behind on our payments, sadly often late with paying salaries--but we do find a way, and you forage that path right alongside us. You have our gratitude.
