Thank you for those who brought hot pads to our workshop in Rapid City. We have been able to wrap approximately 400 sets of metal with hot pads. Unfortunately we are out of hot pads now so we are at a standstill again. We will need nearly 1400 more to fill all of our remaining 5 sets of crates. Thank you for your commitment to Solar Oven Partners.

If you need the pattern for the hot pads you can find it on the Solar Oven Partners website.

The Solar Oven Partners Reflector Workshop in Rapid City is about to start up again after a summer recess. We will begin working again the week of September 15.

Things are changing. For the time being we will not be producing any more metal reflector pieces. Instead, we will be wrapping together what we have already produced along with potholders. This work has been done in our Raymond workshop but it will be much more efficient for us to do it here. In order for this to happen new crates have been built and are being built to house these wrapped units before shipping them on. So, starting on the 15th we will be removing the already manufactured metal pieces from the old crates, wrapping them and putting them in the new crates.

If you are interested in helping please post your intent and questions and Doug, the workshop manager, will get back to you.

Sorry for the wear and tear of the USPS on the back of the newsletter, but wanted to share with volunteers who may have missed the memo on these upcoming mission opportunities!

It was great to have our new director, Randy Harwood, with us this past Wednesday. We heard some of his vision and he got acquainted with our process, our needs, and some of our volunteers. We even checked him out on our machines … and he passed!

On Monday, October 28, we loaded up eight more sets of crates, representing reflectors for 800 solar ovens. We thank Ron and Gloria Borgman for delivering the crates to our Raymond, SD workshop. We are especially thankful to RCS Construction for loading the crates with their forklift. They were working nearby at the new South Middle School and when approached with the possibility they gladly agreed to help us out. It saved us a tremendous amount of time and labor. Thank you to all who helped.

This Thursday, November 7, we will receive the 8 crates back ... empty. We will not need the forklift but will need some physical help. If you are able or interested we will be meeting at Open Heart United Methodist Church at 9:00 a.m.

Our thanks to First UMC of Leavenworth, Kansas for this great group of young people who served in the Reflector Workshop earlier this month! They were motivated to produce and their trainers had to practically kick them out. 😅 If this church offers to send you some workers, know they will be productive! ❤️👍🏼 Thanks also to Doug Diehl and Renee Wildes for supporting them in their training!
