On National Nonprofit Day, we’re especially thankful for the donors, volunteers, partners, and supporters who make the work of Foundations for Families and Showered With Hope possible. We’re honored to be part of this beautiful community.

This month, we completed our third and final in-person DDI Leadership Training through an initiative by United Way of the Black Hills, John T. Vuchurevich Foundation, and Innovative Nonprofit.
The in-person training may be complete, but we still have several months of online learning ahead of us.

We’re thankful for organizations that invest in nonprofits like ours, so we can keep learning, growing, and doing better for the families we serve.

Second-hand wardrobe day is Tuesday, August 25th, so your Co-op will be hosting a Donation Drive to benefit not one, but TWO local organizations: Showered with Hope and Call to Freedom SD! PLUS! All donors will be entered into an exclusive giveaway.

We will be accepting new, or gently used clean clothing, new in package undergarments, socks, feminine hygiene products, sunscreen, and chapstick to benefit our neighbors!

Swing by from 10am to 6pm on Tuesday, August 25th and make a donation to be entered into our Second-Hand Wardrobe Day giveaway!

Last week, your donations helped provide:

🚿 19 showers
🧼 44 hygiene packs
🏠 A fresh start for a family with children living without running water, through case management and deposit support

This week, we’ve already:

🥘 Distributed 4 meal kits
🧦 Stocked dozens of children’s socks ready for little feet

🤝 We also attended the JTVF Coaches Network meeting, connecting with partners and learning more about Children’s Home Society resources.

Your support, and strong community partnerships allow us to keep meeting immediate needs and strengthening support for families with children.

And somewhere in between all of that, we’re doing the behind-the-scenes work to build a solid foundation for our future. 💛

We are incredibly honored.

Today, the Black Hills Association of REALTORS® presented Foundations for Families of the Black Hills with an $11,500 gift through their 2026 Outreach Project.

This isn’t just a check. It’s families staying together. It’s children having a safe place to sleep. It’s hope for parents who are working hard to build a more stable future.

To the BHAR Outreach Committee, every REALTOR®, every business that donated a raffle item, everyone who bought a ticket, and everyone who cheered us on—thank you. You chose to invest in our community, and we don’t take that lightly.

We are truly honored to have been your 2026 Outreach Project and are grateful for your belief in our mission.

Together, we’re building stronger foundations for families. ❤️

Today was spent out of the office - learning and enjoying the beautiful drive to Spearfish and back.

Days like these, spent connecting with and learning alongside other nonprofits, remind me that this world is filled with amazing people. I’m thankful for the conversations, the ideas, and the people who believe we’re better when we work together.

Last week, 12 people were able to wash away the heat, and walked away from Showered With Hope feeling clean, refreshed, and ready to face another day.

Sometimes hope looks like the simple things. 💦 ☀️
