Maya Angelou’s words serve as a beautiful reminder today: none of us are free until all of us are. True liberation means leaning into community, listening well, and fiercely supporting Black neighbors who enrich our community every single day.

Today is a day for celebration, but it's also a reminder of the collective journey still ahead. We are so grateful to share this community with you. Let's look out for one another today and every day.

Hi friends and family! First of all, I want to thank all of you for your support through these last few months. You all have been so generous and I am grateful.

The last couple of months have been eventful. Liv was taken to the emergency room in early June for severe SVTs. This was the scariest heart “attack” that she’s ever had.

About a week ago, cardiologists in Omaha were able to SUCCESSFULLY complete her heart surgery. It took 7 hours and additional cardiologists had to scrub in to help. She is an extremely complicated case so it was a bit precarious at times. While she will always have WPW (it’s complicated) she can now live a more normal life. She is pretty sore and bruised, but she is healing well.

As a mom, I am so relieved. I also feel like I’ve been through the emotional wringer. And now comes the next stress. Paying for this care. Our out of pocket expenses will be about $20k. You all have helped so much, but we have a ways to go to reach our goal. Thanks for your love and well wishes.
