Ranger Historical Preservation Society

Ranger Historical Preservation Society Regular meetings are held the THIRD MONDAY of the Month @ 7pm at the Ruth Terry Denney Library.

The Ranger Historical Preservation Society was approved and chartered by the State of Texas, under the name of Central Texas Historical & Genealogical Preservation, Inc., October 22, 1990. In April 1993, the Society was organized with fifteen directors and officers. It will continue to work under the original charter but, for brevity, filed a certificate to do business as Ranger Historical Preservation Society.

To All Who Entered our Roaring Ranger Days Parade 2025,
RHPS: A big Thank You goes out to each and every one of you who registered on time and showed up to participate. We had more entries this year than in the last several years and feel like it was a blessing to have such a turnout for our maiden voyage into the Roaring Ranger Days event. We have received numerous compliments on the parade, and we thank you for community feedback. Each of you deserve a BIG HAND and a PAT ON THE BACK for a job well done, entrants and spectators.
Our scheduled Parade Judge had a family medical issue and was unable to come this year. We finally found a brave soul that, after much persuasion discussing the situation, agreed although had never judged a parade. The judge had other obligations immediately after the parade and after the delay at the line-up was not able to judge at the line-up time at 9:30 but judged the parade as it passed the Parade Review Stand. Not having the time to pass the winners list on to us at that time, it was stated the winners would be sent to us on Sunday, no time was given. I have since heard from the parade judge and a note was attached to the list of winners. I will share those thoughts and statements with the entrants as RHPS will entertain these ideas that we may not have these issues in the future. Donna Thackerson.
The Parage Judge has spoken:
Parade Judge: “First let me say you had a very nice parade that I believe everyone enjoyed, as did I. The line-up was not an issue in the beginning when I started the judging process. However, I did encounter some issues your spotters, as you called them, encountered while staging each entry into the proper location by its number on the map. It is my understanding that late entries were accepted after your deadline, September 15th . This is difficult on your parade coordinators as well as your spotters when entrants are allowed to enter after the deadline or just show up. These late entries were being given handmade numbers and added to the end of the parade. I do understand you did not want to turn anyone away, especially those, and I believe I was told the number was 6 that had registered the morning of the parade. These issues also added to my volunteer job as parade judge. I had no other option than to judge the parade as the entrants passed the parade review stand. However, you could consider allowing late entries to be place at the end of the parade, no numbers and would not be judged but allowed to be part of the parade. I offer these suggestions to you only as my opinion. Stick to your deadline and do no allow late entrants especially on the day of the parade. I believe had these issues not been present the judging would have been done as it has been in years past and your winners would have received their awards at the parade review stand.” Parade Judge
RHPS: We want to thank our volunteer judge for their time and efforts at our event. Thank you all again from RHPS and our apologies for the delay in the winner postings. Hope to see you all again next year. There are the winners as judged from the parade review stand area by our fill-in judge:
