Tomorrow is the day! We’re off to the Texas Hill Country for our summer trip. We ask that students be at the Student Success Center at 6:30am to load the bus, sign in, and grab breakfast. We will be leaving the college at 7:00am. Due to privacy concerns and the safety of our students, we will not be posting our trip itinerary here but students can find it in our GroupMe. If any student is not in the GroupMe, message me at 254-271-9434 so I can get you added. We’re looking forward to an awesome trip and cannot wait to see all of your bright faces early in the morning! ☀️

Our End of the Year Banquet was an absolute hit! We had a huge turnout with almost 80 chairs filled, and the New York Hill staff did a phenomenal job of accommodating all of us. We want to thank them for hosting our event! It is such a joy getting to serve and spend time with these students throughout the year. Huge thanks to you parents for entrusting us with your kids. We have one amazing group! Next up: Summer Academy! 💜🖤

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! RCUB is taking on the Scarborough Renaissance Festival for our April Saturday Academy! Due to needing to order tickets and get students’ meal money ahead of time, we are asking you to RSVP as soon as possible! If you do not RSVP and let us know you will be attending, you will not be able to go. We are passing out flyers this week and posting this so you have ample time to make plans. We can’t wait to take you all on this medieval journey!

Career Day was a huge success thanks to our volunteers who came out to speak to our students about their professions. We are so grateful that they were willing to dedicate their personal time on a Saturday. Huge shoutout to MJ’s Back Porch for catering the lunch for our students and to our very own, Candis, for making the tres leches cake. 💜🖤🥪🍰

Shoutout to our very own, Antonio, for being awarded as January Student of the Month! He is very deserving of this title, and we are so proud of him!

At the School Board meeting on February 12th, Antonio Alaniz and Evelyn Williams were named as Students of the Month for January! Evelyn was unable to attend this month's school board meeting, as she was competing at a track meet. She will be presented to the school board at the school board meeting in March.

Antonio is noted by teachers and students as a kind-hearted person and an outstanding student with a great smile. He has been active in Beta Club for three years, FFA for four years, and FCCLA for four years. In FFA, he has qualified for State three times, once for Spanish Creed Greenhand, and twice for Homesite. He has also qualified once for State in FCCLA. He plans to attend Texas A&M in pursuit of a degree in Civil Engineering. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Trammel. Mrs. Trammel praised Antonio for his hard work and dedication to academic excellence:

"It's no surprise that your dedication is being recognized. Your hard work in Physics was always impressive, and I know that you have continued to strive for excellence in all of your classes. It is wonderful to see it paying off... I wish you only the BEST in your future endeavors. It was a privilege to be your teacher."

Congratulations to both of these outstanding students!

Last Saturday we ventured to Dallas to visit the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. Our students had an awesome time learning about the Earth, animals of the past and present, their own bodies, and more. What an amazing place!
