Ranger Volunteer Fire Department We are a combination paid and volunteer department. There are 4 paid fireman and about 20 volunteers. Our main responses are EMS Calls, MVA, and Grass Fires.

Our response district is about 250 square miles and cover about 30 miles of interstate 20.

The Ranger Fire Department recently conducted valuable hands-on training using our new Atlas Smoke Machine, providing firefighters with realistic, controlled smoke conditions to sharpen their skills in low-visibility environments. During the training, firefighters worked on Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) procedures, focusing on locating and assisting a downed firefighter in an emergency situation. Crews also practiced search and rescue techniques, emphasizing communication, teamwork, victim location, and safe movement through smoke-filled structures. Training with the Atlas Smoke Machine allows our firefighters to build confidence and maintain the skills needed to respond effectively when every second matters.

Last night at 10:47 pm Ranger, Olden,and Eastland Fire Departments responded to a reported 18 wheeler fire on Interstate 20 346 mile marker east bound. Upon arrival the truck was fully involved. With a great group effort the fire was contained quickly with no injuries reported.
