Calling our local nature lovers! 📣 This year will be Maine Audubon's 43rd annual loon count, and we need your help! On the third Saturday of July each year, Mainers from all over the state work together to count loons across over 400 lakes and ponds. Not only are loons a beloved, iconic staple of Maine's wilderness, but they also serve as vital indicators for lake ecosystem health, so it's important we gather this information for the sake of our lakes and ponds. 🌿

We are looking for volunteers to cover the Rangeley Lakes Region. If you are interested in being a part of this state-wide effort, you can email our headwaters coordinator: [email protected]

Seeing this type of 🦋 gathering along the trail makes our hearts flutter.

These Eastern Tiger Swallowtails aren’t just resting—they’re “puddling,” a behavior where butterflies gather on damp soil to drink mineral-rich water.

What nature wonders have you witnessed lately?

Summer is arriving in the Rangeley Lakes Region, and so are the fawns. 🦌💜

Fawns are born this time of year, often following close behind their mothers as they learn to navigate their surroundings. A reminder to please slow down and stay alert while driving this season.
