The 2026 Junior Guides Advanced Group had an exciting year. Almost all of our programs were away from a classroom setting with off site visits and plenty of "hands-on" activities.

Day 1 started with a fly fishing remedial then fishing on the pond with David Erickson. After lunch was a hike up Bald Mountain with Jeff Zapolsky and Don Mantovani.

🎉 LAST DAY! 🎉

Our Basic Group had an incredible final day! We started the morning at the Maine Forestry Museum, where Scott Stevens gave us a fascinating tour and showed us some really impressive logging equipment. Thank you, Scott!

From there, we headed to the Town Park beach for lunch and an afternoon of swimming and fun. A big thank-you to Erin Pathiakis for serving as our lifeguard and helping keep everyone safe!

We wrapped up the 2026 Junior Guides program the best way possible—with an ice cream party! 🥳🍦

A heartfelt thank-you goes out to our amazing leads: Karon Noyes, Sue & Bill Lewis, Ashley Greene, Tanya Baron, Dano Archibee, Beth Carroll, and Kathryn Ransome.

Thank you as well to our outstanding Junior Counselors: Tess, Natalie, Dakota, Maddie, and Hunter!

And to all of our volunteers and presenters—thank you! This program wouldn’t be possible without the incredible people who generously share their time, knowledge, and passion. Your dedication is what makes Junior Guides such a special experience for these kids.

Finally, thank you to all of the parents who entrusted us with your children these past few Monday/Tuesday’s. We hope they had an unforgettable time, learned something new, built lasting friendships, and made memories they’ll cherish for years to come.

To our Basic Group—we can’t wait to see you next year in Advance Group!

And to our Advance Group—thank you for being such an awesome group of young guides. We wish you many BIG adventures ahead… and, most importantly, safe ones! 💚

Basic Group, Day 5. Water Safety Day! We learned some important water safety rules then headed out onto the pond on paddle-boards and canoes! (Thank you, Rivers Edge Sports for letting us borrow the paddle-boards!)
After lunch, Kim Syrel taught us about different trees (thank you, Kim!). Because some stormy weather blew in, we spent some time inside… We worked together to set up a tent, made some great art and para-cord survival bracelets! 🛶🏄🏻🛟🌲🌳⛺️
