To all purchasers of the Rangeley Lakes Opoly games:
We anticipated delivery of the games about this time and for months have been looking forward to receiving them. When this project began in early summer we worked diligently and met the manufacturer’s-imposed deadline of early July to receive the games in time for the holidays. In late September we were informed that the games had been produced and were awaiting shipment to Rangeley, Maine. Only until recently (mid-November) was the manufacturer able to procure a ship and send them our way.
This week, we found out that, unfortunately all the traffic through the Panama Canal has ground to a near halt because of the drought in Central America that began in August. This has resulted in hundreds of ships waiting weeks to pass thru the locks, ships are having to wait as long as 3-4 weeks. Therefore, the manufacturer’s cargo ship has chosen to go thru the Suez Canal and now estimated to arrive in Boston early-January, not mid-December as promised. In addition, it will take anywhere from 7-21 days to clear customs and then have the games transported by a freight forwarder to Rangeley. Therefore, we are anticipating a mid to late January for shipment arrival.
Taking in the spirit of the season, we have prepared a placeholder gift note for each purchaser, so that they will have something to open for the holidays. We understand that this is an inconvenience for you, and for that we are sorry. We have worked hard to meet all deadlines, so that the games would arrive in time for the holidays; however, the supply chain and the actions of our vendor are beyond our control.
