Add a favorite (BINGO) and another favorite (Thanksgiving) and what do you get? Thanksgiving Bingo! Kept everyone, youngsters and grandfriends, glued to their cards and rooting for prizes. Everyone helped everyone in this one, so that everyone was a winner.

The other week the kids learned a new dominoes-type game called "Mexican Trains" - a favorite of the residents so they were glad to help the youngsters get the hang of it. We have had middle school helpers as volunteers lately, so they too helped our kids learn the new game. Thanks so much to our middle school helpers. They are appearing in our posts occasionally.

"Uno" the card game is a perfect intergenerational activity as young and old easily enjoy playing together. We were joined by a Random Lake 8th grade volunteer who helped teach the card game to our youngest participant. She was a quick learner (thanks to her teacher). "Go Fish" was right up there too for great tabletop fun.

Tuesday we played "parachute" together and yesterday we celebrated autumn with an array of beautiful leaves piled on the table which we used to make glue crazy hair on a head drawing.

The kids were entertained by a grandfriend reading "The Monster at the end of the Book" in a very dramatic fashion - so fun! Then the kids turned the tables and read "Green Eggs and Ham" to grandfriends. We especially enjoyed handing out the leaf suncatchers they made after reading time was over.

The kids helped decorate the program site with their autumn tree fingerprint artwork. They're all so pretty - some kids experimented with spatter technique too. The activities with grandfriends at Gables this week was balloon ball and drum circle. Photos of drum circle time together to come.

Today we made leaf drawing suncatchers on cellophane to give to the residents at Gables on the Pond when we go next. Sharpie markers are the secret. The kids were surprised how pretty they looked holding them up to a window. Hoping grandfriends like them in their windows.
