Many of us grew up amazed by the shooting skills of our parents or grandparents, many of whom grew up learning to shoot with iron sights.

Iron sights build strong shooting fundamentals, including proper eye placement, that carry over when shooting with optics.

Many shooters today choose to start with optics, such as scopes or dots. While that technology is great, all new shooters can build their skills on open or iron sights before advancing to optics.

NJ VOWS TO DEFEND ITS BAN ON ALL SELF-DEFENSE!

about ANJRPC's new lawsuit to overturn New Jersey's law banning self-defense with non-fi***rm weapons, the state of New Jersey has doubled down and vowed to defend the antiquated law that directly contradicts U.S. Supreme Court precedent.

the state Attorney General "vowed to defend the state against the lawsuit 'and do all we can to end violence in our state. New Jersey's commonsense restrictions on weapons keep our residents safe'."

"The state has now fully revealed both its lunacy and utter contempt for binding Supreme Court precedent," observed ANJRPC Executive Director Scott Bach. "They want us defenseless and will go to any extreme to keep us there -- but they have a hard lesson coming, because following the Constitution is not optional".

"Under this law, a woman walking to her car at night can't legally carry even a simple tool to protect herself,” said ANJRPC President Kathy Chatterton. “That's not public safety -- it's telling criminals that every one of us is an easy target, free to be robbed, r***d, or assaulted. Self-defense is a God-given right that no government can take away, and we're going to see this through for every New Jersey resident," Chatterton concluded.

The announcement of ANJRPC's new lawsuit has also made waves in the Second Amendment community.

New Jersey follows the Castle Doctrine concept for home defense, not a Stand Your Ground law. Under N.J.S.A. 2C:3-4, the duty to retreat applies to deadly force in public. But the statute also says you are not obliged to retreat from your dwelling (unless you were the initial aggressor). Separate provisions in the same statute address the use of force against an intruder unlawfully in a dwelling.

🎯 What an incredible week at RTSP!

We just wrapped up this year’s Kid’s Shooting Camp, and it was a huge success! 🙌

Throughout the week, campers had the opportunity to learn from our talented instructors and RSOs, build their skills, practice safe fi***rm handling, and put what they learned to the test.

🏆 We finished the week by recognizing some outstanding performances with awards for:
🥇 1st & 2nd Place – Handgun
🥇 1st & 2nd Place – R***e
🎯 Overall Best Shooter

It was a fantastic week filled with learning, competition, and plenty of fun. The kids had a great time, and we were thrilled to hear such positive feedback from parents as well.

A huge thank you to all of our campers, families, instructors, and RSOs who helped make this year’s camp such a great experience!

FEDERAL APPEALS COURT STRIKES DOWN NJ “ASSAULT WEAPONS” BAN/MAGAZINE BAN!

Longstanding NJ Law Found Unconstitutional in ANJRPC Lawsuit!

in ANJRPC v. Attorney General of New Jersey, the U.S Court of Appeal for the Third Circuit ruled that semi-automatic ri**es and magazines in excess of 10 rounds are in common use by millions of law abiding Americans and are therefore protected arms under the Second Amendment and cannot be banned.

This incredible development comes on the heels of the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent announcement that next year it will resolve the “assault weapon” ban issue for the entire nation. Today’s decision has the potential to influence the Supreme Court’s ultimate thinking on the issue.

ANJRPC has spearheaded these challenges to New Jersey’s bans on “assault weapons“ and magazines for nearly a decade. While these challenges were met with initial resistance in the lower federal courts, it is gratifying to see our advocacy for the every-day gun owner finally victorious. Gun owners also owe a huge debt of gratitude to the NRA and NRA-ILA for their incredible financial and legal assistance in this case.

Notably, the court declined to rule on the “assault weapon” law’s ban on semi-automatic sh****ns and handguns, instead sending that part of the law back to the lower court for further proceedings on those issues.

Today’s decision is certain to send shockwaves through the New Jersey State House, where lawmakers are surely reeling from this blow and scrambling to consider their next move in response. Bans on “assault weapons” and magazines have been a centerpiece of New Jersey gun control since the early 1990s.
