🌱 CLASS 4: Rich County Online Gardening Series
Weeds and Pests

Not everything in your garden is the enemy β€” but knowing the difference is everything.

In our final class, we'll take an introductory look at the most common weeds, pests, and insects you'll encounter in a Rich County garden. We'll talk about how to identify what you're seeing, what kind of damage to look for, and how to decide what to do about it β€” starting with the least intervention first.

🌱 CLASS 3: Building Your Garden
Season Extension & Infrastructure

Gardening in Rich County means working with one of the shortest growing seasons in Utah β€” but the right tools can change everything. In Class 3, we'll walk through the structures and techniques that help you squeeze more growing time out of every season, from the first thaw to the last frost.

We'll cover row covers, cold frames, Wall-o-Waters, high tunnels, raised beds, black plastic mulch, and more β€” with honest pros and cons for each so you can decide what makes sense for your space and budget.

Applications are now open for the Small Farm Water Quality Improvement Project Grant. This grant provides funding for small farms across Utah to implement best management practices that improve water quality in surrounding areas.
Funding may support projects such as fencing, berms, corrals, and other practices that improve waste management and promote water quality. Please note: this program focuses specifically on improving water quality. Projects that improve conservation or efficiency without improving water quality will be rejected without review.
Applications are due February 28, 2026 at 11:59 pm MT. Awarded projects must be completed by June 1, 2026.
We strongly encourage 4-H and FFA youth to apply.
