Friends  of the Old Narrow Gauge  Volunteer  Trail The " Friends of the Old Narrow gauge Trail" is a not for profit group dedicated to the restoration The K.C. A total distance of five miles.

The Old Narrow Gauge Volunteer Trail is a nature trail located in Randolph Maine that was built on an abandoned narrow gauge railroad line of the Kennebec Central Railroad. transported goods and people from the banks of the Kennebec River in Randolph to the Veterans hospital located at Togus Maine. Currently, the portions of the trail that are located in Randolph have been dedicated and maintained as a walking trail. The section of trail in Randolph is about 1.5 miles.

This engine once ran between the Randolph waterfront to the V. A. at Togus.

Kennebec Central #4 will be arriving at Sheepscot on Saturday, June 29th for the special The Road to Togus Remembered: Civil War Reenactment event. Thanks to Dan Malkowski for the photo of the test fit of the lettering and numbers. The last time the locomotive wore Kennebec Central markings was 1929.

A cool mushroom I saw off trail this morning. Notice the dark brown color which I believe comes from tanic acid contained in Hemlock trees.
Hemlock bark used to be harvested to extract the tanic acid used in the leather tanning process.
