For more than two decades, our community has come together to support Gifford’s end-of-life care programs, helping patients and families receive comfort, compassion, and meaningful support during life’s most important moments.

This year’s Last Mile takes place August 14–15 in Randolph and includes a 5K run, 1- or 2- mile walk, gravel and road bicycle rides, and an 80 mile motorcycle ride. Every mile and every dollar raised helps provide things like alternative therapies, transportation, family meals, estate planning, and even final wishes for patients and their loved ones.

Tessa Cone came to Vermont thinking she would stay for a week to care for her mother after a fall. She stayed nearly two months, putting her life on pause to be by her mom’s side during the final weeks of her life.

Through The Last Mile Fund, Gifford was able to help ease some of the financial burdens, from caregiving expenses to cremation services, allowing Tessa to focus on what mattered most: being present with her mother.

For 20 years, The Last Mile has helped patients and families facing terminal illness and end-of-life journeys with compassion, dignity, and support. From travel expenses and funeral costs to fulfilling final wishes, your support truly changes lives.
