💙🏡 Lunch & Learn! 🥪✨

This week, GMM Habitat had the pleasure of hosting an inspiring Lunch & Learn with the bright Scotch Plains High School seniors who are interning with Assemblywoman Linda Carter! 🎓👏

We dove into important conversations around housing in New Jersey — discussing the realities of the affordable housing crisis, the impact of homeownership on families and communities, and the role advocacy plays in creating change. 🗣️💪

And just like that… Women Build 2026 is a wrap! 💗🏡

Throughout the month, volunteers, sponsors, and community leaders came together to build more than homes—we built connection, confidence, and hope.

We are incredibly grateful to our generous sponsors, including Provident Bank , Crum & Forster, Passion 4 People Consulting Vanguard Energy Partners, LLC and North Central Jersey Association of REALTORS® (NCJAR) and all of the partners who helped make this impactful month possible.

A special thank you to the many distinguished guests who joined us at our Closing Ceremony, including local community leaders and elected officials and state agencies who continue to support affordable housing in our region.

From the first build day to the final celebration, this has truly been an incredible month of impact.

We were honored to welcome Assemblywoman Marisa Sweeney (District 25) to Greater Middlesex & Morris Habitat for Humanity for her first official visit to our offices.

During her visit, Assemblywoman Sweeney met with members of our leadership team, including CEO Liz DeCoursey, Director of Family Services Loretta Rivers, VP of Home Repair & Community Revitalization Mark Odenwelder, and Administrative & Outreach Coordinator Sarah Escamilla.

The conversation focused on the critical connection between housing and healthcare, and how safe, stable, and affordable housing plays a vital role in improving health outcomes for individuals and families throughout our communities.

We appreciate Assemblywoman Sweeney's commitment to learning more about Habitat's work and her encouragement of continued collaboration among organizations working to address housing challenges across New Jersey.
