Today we have Detroit’s native “DJ SKY JETTA” a 23 year old who has been professionally DJing for 5-plus years. However, throughout that process, Sky decided to drop out of Columbia College Chicago, Kanye’s former dropout school and began to take her DJing to a professional level.
With the love for music and having her father, a former DJ, inspire her career, Sky Jetta began to grow a passion for House music and wanted to produce her very own House and EDM. Throughout that journey, she spontaneously decided to move to Atlanta Georgia to further her DJ’ing career. Along with her journey in Atlanta, many doors and opportunities opened up. This is where she’s done her first music festival (A3C) opening up for artists such as Trina, Lil Wayne and many more. She is currently traveling to do what she loves nationally, and plan to work internationally very soon.

Day 6: DJ Diamond Kuts

Welcome to DSD’s Women Who Spin series, a celebration of powerful women transforming the world through their love of music and DJing.

Today we have DJ Diamond Kuts.
Born Tina Dunham, it was Diamond Kuts’ father and legendary Philly MC, Grand Tone, who introduced her to DJing after gifting her a belt drive turntable for Christmas. Almost immediately, Kuts was obsessed and began stashing her pennies to upgrade to a set of Technics. After linking up with local DJs, Diamond Kuts began to cultivate a following around school where kids would line up for her monthly mixtapes, and was DJing regular stints at local clubs before she could even legally attend them.

If that wasn’t enough to take in, she has guest DJ’d for BET’s hip hop-centric TV shows Rap City and The Deal, is a radio DJ for Philly’s Power99FM and has produced tracks for Nicky Minaj, Sissy Nobby and Lumidee. In a rare diversion from her beloved turntables, we got Diamond Kuts pulling her tricks on the Roland DJ-808. Check her routine and interview below to be impressed.
