For the last three months, we’ve been collecting, sorting and cleaning clothing with the help of our partners at The Laundry Basket.

Today is distribution day.

These clothes are headed to our partners at No Struggle No Success and the Family Recovery Program, where they’ll get into the hands of people who need them.

This isn’t the prettiest work we do. There’s a lot of collecting, sorting, washing, folding, packing and moving bags. It's a tedious process, but it’s some of the most fulfilling work!

Clothing insecurity is real. Not having clean, appropriate clothing can impact a person’s confidence and mental health. It can affect whether a child feels comfortable showing up to school and whether an adult feels prepared to walk into an interview or start a new job.

Sometimes something as simple as having the right clothes can remove one more barrier.

Proud of the partnerships and thankful for the donors that allow us to keep doing this work. 💜🧡💚

Congratulations to Zoey Tull, the 2026 KDW Cares Urban Educator Scholarship recipient! 🎓💜

After a competitive application process that included essay reviews by six volunteer readers and finalist interviews, Zoey stood out through her passion, purpose, and commitment to serving others.

As a future healthcare professional, Zoey has already demonstrated what it means to turn compassion into action. Through her leadership with Project S.H.E., she has helped address period poverty and ensure that young women throughout Baltimore City have access to resources, support, and dignity.

Zoey will continue her education at Bowie State University, where she will begin the next chapter of her journey at one of our nation’s historic HBCUs.

The Urban Educator Scholarship is about more than helping a student get to college. It is about investing in young people who we believe will use their education to create opportunities and make a difference for those coming behind them.

Today, we're proud to make that investment in Zoey.

As she begins her journey at Bowie State, she does so with more than a scholarship. She has the support, resources, relationships, and network of the entire KDW Cares family behind her.

KDW Cares Clothing Closet

Every item that enters the KDW Cares Clothing Closet goes through a deliberate process before it ever reaches a neighbor in need.

Donated clothing is first collected from community members and partner organizations. From there, our volunteers carefully inspect every item, separating clothing by type, size, gender, and season while removing anything that does not meet our quality standards. This sorting process ensures that only clean, wearable, and dignified items move forward.

Selected clothing is then sent to be professionally laundered so every recipient receives garments that are fresh, sanitized, and ready to wear. Once returned, the clothing is organized again, folded, labeled, and stocked in our clothing closet to create a welcoming shopping experience rather than a handout.

Only after completing each of these steps is the clothing distributed to individuals and families in our community.

At KDW Cares, we believe dignity is found in the details. The care we put into collecting, sorting, laundering, and organizing every donation reflects our commitment to serving our neighbors with excellence and respect.

At KDW Cares, we understand that clothing insecurity goes beyond just not having enough to wear. It impacts confidence, dignity, and self esteem. Everyone deserves to feel a sense of pride in how they show up in the world.

Our latest effort is now ready to go out to those in need. We are proud to share that every item collected through this drive has been carefully prepared for distribution.

Through your support, we collected gently used clothing and partnered with to ensure every item was professionally laundered and folded. This step matters!! It allows recipients to receive clothing with dignity, not by sorting through bags, but by selecting clean, organized items they can wear with confidence.

These donations will support families through our partners at and . We also thank for their generous contribution of personal hygiene items, helping us extend care beyond clothing.
