Humane Smarts: Where heart meets mind
Offering opportunities for creativity and self-sufficiency to San Diego’s youth through art projects, photography programs, and cultivating produce. In 2013, Humane Smarts transformed an asphalt lot in East Village, San Diego, into a thriving community garden and educational learning center, and that is when SMARTS Farm was born. September of 2018 we expanded

into North County, growing our model for the community to continue to grow.

This past weekend one of our partner organizations, , joined us at SMARTS Farm for a day of growing, making, and sharing. We’d like to say a special thank you and express just how much fun we had digging into soil, pruning our beds, and last but not least, making holiday wreathes to share.

As we welcome Fall, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our Summer NCL Volunteers. We had the best time working on projects around SMARTS Farm and getting to know so many Moms and Daughters.

Thank you to our National Charity League Mom’s and Daughters for your incredible work + dedication!

We are loving our partnership with ! NCL’s Moms and Daughters started digging into SMARTS Farm on June 5th - and we are thrilled to be working together.

The full farm is close to fully irrigated!!

And when we say digging in, we mean literally digging, irrigating, transforming gardens into production beds, irrigating, weeding, planting tomatoes style, documenting and labeling, building projects, and completing the last of our sheet mulching.

Thanks to for their generous donation last year of irrigation supply’s.
