Hello September! 🍂🍁
We had our first in person meeting after the summer break in our new space at the Mizell Center, which has a lovely AV setup! Coffee, juice, water, and mini muffins were available before and after the meeting and were very well received. A special thank you to Kate McCarthy, Vivien McGuire, and Linda Lyman for coordinating the refreshments. ☕One of our members even scored a beautiful vintage red dress at the Mizell shop! Thanks so much to Ector, Joel, and the rest of the Mizell staff for making our first experience such a wonderful one.
We also held a special election to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Programs Co-Chair. Kathleen Herring was voted in as President, Janna Culkins as Vice President, Pat Seigal as Treasurer, and Shannon Vonnegut as Programs Co-Chair. With that, our 2027 Board is complete. Congratulations, ladies! 🎉
The new Coachella Valley Quilt Guild website was unveiled with a new web host and a new look. There is now a members-only area where the member directory can be accessed. Members can sign up to gain access; after doing so, they will receive a confirmation email. Special thanks to Luc Pelletier and Steve Kowalski for lending their expertise in this endeavor. Our September speaker was international and national quilt award winner, quilt show judge, and North Dakota native Colleen Carlson. Colleen learned to sew in 4-H, and although the discipline wasn’t her favorite in her youth, her love for sewing and quilting grew throughout her lifetime. She shared her expertise with us in an enlightening lecture all about quilt backs.
