Women on the Move Network, Southern California Carries out variety of activities, workshops, conferences related to gender equality The program is aptly named Who's Your Hero?
(1)

For nearly a decade, WOMEN ON THE MOVE NETWORK, has carried out a variety of activities, conferences, special topic luncheons and seminars on themes related to gender equality. Continuing the theme, our current focus, since 2005, is a group mentoring program for girls, ages 9 to 11, designed to help them grow into strong, confident and capable women who are service oriented and who understand that

they can be the heroes of their own lives. When our girls reach the age of 12, they move on to the follow-up program, called Junior Women on the Move, now in its fourth year. This weekly program continues the same areas of effort as WHO'S YOUR HERO?, but in sessions that are more developmentally appropriate for adolescents. It is our hope and expectation that the girls will stay with us in a developing spirit of sisterhood until they complete the teen years, and may even come back as facilitators for the 9 to 11 groups.
