Obviously, Leonard never got the memo on what it means to be a feral cat. 😂❤️

This beautiful, friendly boy didn’t have a home, but now he does! He comes to our workshops, greets everyone who visits the garden, and makes sure nobody leaves without a little Leonard love.

Everyone loves Leonard, and honestly, we think he’s pretty happy with his home at The Root 66 Garden. Thanks Priceless Pets | Animal Shelter & Rescue 🐈🌱

Learn how to care for your trees, improve their health, and keep them growing strong!

Did you know opossums are actually good for the garden? 🐾

These funny little night time visitors help keep pests under control by eating insects, slugs, snails, mice, rats and even small snakes. They also clean up fallen food and other things that could attract unwanted pests.

So if you see an opossum wandering around The Root 66 Garden at night, leave him alone. He’s just doing his job! 😂

We like our garden helpers, even the ones that look a little strange.

The garden has seasons too. 🌱

Right now, a lot of the garden looks pretty bare. Summer crops are finished, plants have died back, and honestly, parts of the garden can look a little… dead. 😂

But that’s how gardening works. We have to let one season end so we can start the next one.

Fall is when we clean up, plant seeds, prepare the soil and get our fall crops growing. Potatoes, onions, garlic, leeks, herbs, squash and more will slowly start filling the garden again.

That’s one of the things we love about our FoodShare Agricultural Education Co-Op. (Link in Bio) You get to see the whole process, not just the finished harvest. From planting the tiny seed to watching it grow, harvesting food and sharing the extras with our community.

The garden may look quiet right now, but underneath it all, we’re getting ready for what comes next. 🌱

🌿 Did you know we have several Moringa trees growing right here at The Root 66 Garden?

Moringa, sometimes called the “miracle tree,” has been used for generations in traditional and holistic practices. The leaves, pods and seeds have all been used in different cultures for food and wellness, and the tree is known for being incredibly nutrient dense.

We love having plants like Moringa at the garden because they give us a chance to learn about traditional uses, natural growing practices and the many ways plants have been part of human wellness for centuries.
