While we now work with folks all over the country AND the globe (thanks pandemic!), our roots are in the greater Sacramento Region. IF you are anywhere near Placerville this evening (Sun Aug 9th, 2026), we hope you'll go see our friend and host Amber "Lucky" Stann on stage at the monthly Word of Mouth Storytelling show at The Green Room in Placerville (see graphic for details). It is EXACTLY what we love about storytelling... raw, funny, unpredictable, and filled with heart!!!

And as an extraspecialbonus... Capital Storytelling's very own Abby Rotstein will be one of the featured tellers. Do yourself a favor and get thee to this show!!!

While we may not want to remember the Covid times, we undoubtedly have stories from those bizarre days of disconnection, fear, confusion and uncertainty. Oh heck yeah! We finished ip two full (6 hour long) sessions with this group for our Facilitating Storytelling Workshops training! Some of the folks in the class were community members wanting to lead workshops to impact their space and loved places— some were folks in our Story Ambassadors program who took part in the training as a part of their 6 month long fellowship program. All of them left feeling bonded to one another and legit they showed some mad skills in leading their workshops during our practice sessions. We can’t wait to see what you each do next. For real. What a special group 🥹🥹

We are over the moon - but NOT surprised - to see our very own Dr. Meghna Bhat be selected as a plenary speaker at this year's National Sexual Assault Conference in Washington DC!!! Congrats Meghna... they are so lucky to have you!!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Meghna Bhat as a featured plenary speaker at this year's National Sexual Assault Conference (NSAC) in Washington, D.C!

Meghna is an award-winning creative disruptor, culture-change consultant, and storytelling artist whose work is grounded in community-centered, survivor-led, trauma-informed practice. Over more than 20 years, she's partnered with organizations nationwide to show how storytelling and the arts can spark critical conversations and shift culture, work recognized with the 2025 ORACLE Award from the National Storytelling Network and the 2024 Victimology Impact Award from the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences.

In her plenary, "Weaving What We Carry: Creativity, Care, and Collective Power," Meghna draws on personal story and cultural metaphor to explore what our movement needs now and what we're ready to build.
