Child Action

Child Action We're a non-profit empowering families and child care professionals with the tools and support services needed to successfully care for children since 1976.

We believe that parents are best able to choose the child care that meets their particular family situation. It is our goal to provide parents with information on a broad range of child care services, as well as ways to assess these services. We can provide information about child care and child development services as it is available, but we do not make recommendations. The choice of care remains with the parent. We are not responsible for arrangements between parents and providers.

✏️ Back-to-school reminder!

If your child will be attending school this year, please let your assigned Child Action staff member know their school name, district, school hours, and calendar schedule.

Providing this information early helps us update your child care schedule before school starts.

Allow us to reintroduce ourselves πŸ‘‹.

We're Sacramento County's child care resource and referral agency, but we're also advocates, community partners, and champions for children, families, and child care providers.

From helping families access child care and resources, to supporting providers, building community partnerships, and advancing solutions that strengthen the child care landscape, our work is rooted in helping children and families succeed.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we're honoring the visionaries who started this work, the impact we're making today, and the future we're building together.

Because quality child care impacts everything.

Access to resources starts with access to trusted community spaces.

That's why Child Action is partnering with North Sacramento Family Resource Center to connect families in the Arden area with child care and family support services where they already turn for help and information.

Through this co-location partnership, families can connect with Child Action staff for:

Child care should support families, not outdated paperwork.

Our co-sponsored legislation, SB 902 (Grayson), is one step closer to becoming law after passing the California Senate and advancing to the Assembly Human Services Committee.

By expanding the use of electronic signatures, SB 902 helps modernize child care systems, reduce administrative barriers, and make services easier for families and providers to access.

Thank you to Senator Tim Grayson for championing this effort and to our fellow co-sponsors for their partnership: Thriving Families CA, CDA, Go Kids,Inc., Hively Alameda County, KinderCare Learning Centers, and BANANAS.

Strong communities are built through collaboration, connection, and access to essential resources.

Recently, our team attended the ribbon-cutting celebration for the Rancho Cordova Community Food Hub, a new space dedicated to supporting families and strengthening the community through access to food and services.

We’re grateful to join local leaders, partners, and community members in celebrating investments that help families thrive and create healthier, more connected neighborhoods.
