Once again, the Ramsey Baseball/Softball Association is offering a Softball Clinic during the late fall and winter months. This skills/training clinic is free of charge to girls attending 3rd – 8th grade and who live in Ramsey or attend Ramsey schools. Parents are asked to please be prompt in drop-off / pick-up to maximize learning for all. The intent of the clinic is to help players improve their
skills, at their own pace. Players may attend as many, or as few, of the sessions as they wish. The advanced pitcher clinic (i.e., for those girls who have pitched windmill in rec or travel or otherwise take their own private instruction) meets on Wednesday nights beginning December 12, from 8:15-9:15pm. The hitting/fielding/base running clinic meets on Friday nights beginning December 14 and is broken down into two sessions: 7:00-8:15 for 3rd - 4th grade girls and 8:15-9:30 for 5th – 8th grade girls. Details regarding the beginner’s pitching clinic (for girls with little or no prior windmill pitching experience) are still being worked out. Please stay tuned for more information. The hitting/fielding/base running clinic will include instruction in all the basic skills areas of softball including:
• Throwing
• Hitting
• Fielding Ground Balls
• Catching
• Base Running
• Sliding
In addition, for girls in grades 5-8, instruction will include advanced training in:
• Bunting
• Stealing
• Run-down Plays
• Mental Approach to various Softball Situations
Parents and/or recreation league coaches are welcome and encouraged to attend and assist with as many sessions of the clinic as possible. Players should wear gym attire (including sneakers) and should bring the following to each session:
• Glove
• Batting Helmet
• Water bottle
• Bat (optional)
