Created to encourage participation in the shooting sports while promoting firearm safety, National Shooting Sports Month will take place throughout August as it celebrates its 10th anniversary. Coinciding with America 250, this year’s campaign features the theme “Let Freedom Plink” — highlighting freedom and the joy of the shooting sports for enthusiasts of all experience levels.

“We are excited to participate in NSSF’s National Shooting Sports Month by promoting it to our community,” said Jeff Yeager, National Coordinator. “This is the perfect incentive for our students and supporters to introduce someone new to the sports they enjoy and for those who haven’t been out target shooting lately to get back out there for some practice. In the spirit of celebration, Project Appleseed encourages everyone to spend some time at the range, dry fire practice at home, and register for one of the over 200 Project Appleseed marksmanship clinics still on the schedule nationwide in 2026.”

Sources at Project Appleseed state that October 2026 will be the first official PISTOLSEED MONTH! 📣🎉 In celebration of the launch of our much-anticipated, revamped, updated, and awesome Pistolseed program, all Pistol events in the month of October will feature FULL COLOR PQT targets, and the opportunity to earn FULL COLOR Pistoleer Patches. 🙌🥳🎉

What an incredible weekend in Kansas! We had 19 patriots join us at the Mill Creek Rifle Club in De Soto, where history and marksmanship came together.

With 14 first-timers, the energy was high, and we celebrated our young achievers who earned their William Diamond patches! 🏅 It was heartwarming to see three generations of one family shooting side by side.

A huge thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event despite the weather. Remember, Riflemen persist! 💪

Our Rimfire Known Distance class (like this one in Sacramento, CA) is a challenging course of fire applying all the fundamentals from a 25M Rifle Marksmanship Clinic.

For rimfire-only rifles,. this intermediate-level class focuses on the skills required to effectively hit targets up to 200 yards using a .22LR.

It was a busy 10 days at the Laramie Rifle Range, with a Riflemans Boot Camp, Pistol Clinic, Rimfire Known Distance, and 25M Clinic. We ended up having around 40 participants from 11 states (AK, AR, MT, OK, TX, MI, NE, CO, NM, MN. WY – yes Alaska!). Congrats to all who qualified, and thanks to those who made this event happen.

What an incredible Flag Day weekend at the Fernan Rod and Gun Club! Eight enthusiastic shooters joined us to celebrate our shared heritage and passion for marksmanship. After a rainy start, the sunny skies were a welcome sight, reminding us that every sore muscle means we're stronger than before!

With so many first-timers showing such progress, we are confident that they’re on their way to earning their Rifleman scores.

Remember, persistence is key! 💪🔫
