Meet adoptable Eloy!

Eloy entered Chula Vista Shelter as a stray, and sadly, he wasn't claimed during his stray hold. While at the shelter, he was neutered and had dental surgery. We welcomed Eloy as a Frosted Face on April 21st. He is estimated to be 10 years old and weighs 13 lbs.

Eloy is very sweet and friendly, and he comes right over when you say his name. He happily accepts scratches and cuddles and enjoys sitting on laps.

Eloy is currently living in a Foster home with McCall Castro who reports:

Just wanted to provide an update on Eloy - he’s the sweetest little dog and I love having him around!

Eloy is a sweet, gentle pup who may be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe his personality really shines through. He’s friendly with new people, loves saying hello to other dogs, and does well with cats, making him a wonderful fit for a variety of homes. Once he bonds with you, he’ll happily become your little shadow, following you from room to room just to be close.

More than anything, Eloy loves spending time with his people and absolutely craves affection and attention. He’s happiest curled up beside you, sitting in your lap, or burrowed into blankets getting cozy. When you talk to him while scratching his head, he looks like he’s in absolute heaven. He truly soaks up every bit of love and loves being doted on.

Eloy has a calm, easygoing nature and enjoys tagging along on outings. He does well in stores, rides nicely in the car, and is always excited for a drive-thru treat. He loves special snacks and even enjoys carrots. He also takes his pills very nicely and behaves well when left home alone. Eloy is mostly potty trained and has been an easy, loving companion.

Hunny came into our care after her owner experienced financial hardship and was no longer able to keep her. She had her listed for adoption with us, but as time was running out, she reluctantly expressed interest in surrendering her.

We ask for a fair donation to rehome pets with us because they come with a lot of perks from immediate housing at FFF, to free vet care, the promise to always take them back into our program if an adoption does not work out, and most significantly, no risk of euthanasia for space or treatable medical issues.

With so many people facing financial hardship right now, not everyone is able to make a donation. In these cases, we help determine eligibility for a grant that may reduce or eliminate the relinquishment fee. Many families come to us out of love for their pet and a desire to ensure they are safe and cared for.

Hunny's mom adopted her from San Diego Humane Society-Escondido 7 years ago. She made her home made food, Hunny lived a nice life indoors, and slept with her mom. Her surrender was heartbreaking, but we promised everything would be okay.

If you didn't believe me about how much people care for their animals even if they have to surrender them... when a pet passes away or gets adopted, their pet profile drops off of our website in real time.

The same day that Hunny was adopted, her mom reached out to ask why her profile was down. She had been checking religiously.

We were so happy to share that after just one week in our care, Hunny was adopted.

Bindy is a 15‑year‑old sweetheart who was struggling with constant itching and discomfort. She was in need of a vet visit for flea prevention and Cytopoint relief. However, her guardian was facing eviction as a senior and was living on a very limited income from SS and SNAP. They were doing everything they could to keep Bindy comfortable but simply couldn’t afford the care she urgently needed.

During this difficult time, they reached out to Frosted Faces Foundation for help. Thanks to the compassion of our community and the Frosted Funding program, we contributed $449.77 to cover Bindy’s treatments and additional tests to better understand her condition.

Her guardian shared their gratitude: “Thank you so very much for your generosity. Your kindness and help will not be forgotten.”

A big thank you to everyone who supports Frosted Funding. Your compassion brings comfort and relief to pets like Bindy and supports their devoted guardians when they need it most. 🐾 ❤️

We primarily provide veterinary care that is required to maintain and enhance the quality of life for senior animals. We can also help with food, supplies, training, grooming, pet deposits, emergency boarding, fence repairs, and impound fees.

Our hope is that Frosted Funding will empower families to keep their pets instead of relinquishing them to the shelter or resorting to economical euthanasia. Additionally, we love to incentivize senior pet adoption!

Sweet Yogi was surrendered to San Diego Humane Society for inappropriate urination. The shelter reached out to us for a live exit to work up Yogi and see if we could help him.

Unfortunately, our diagnostics showed that he was in end stage kidney failure- his values not even reading on our lab machines, without the presence of a UTI. While I just can't express how upsetting it is that Yogi was disposed of for being inconvenient at the very end of his life when he was actually dying, I am going to give space for the possibility that his family could not afford vet care to understand how to help him.

Yogi was just a little teddy bear who needed love, so that is what volunteers offered on his couple of days at FFF on behalf of his absent family. We gave Yogi a death with dignity so he did not have to suffer... his final gift from this unfair world.

Fly high, Yogi.

Today we transferred 6 senior cats from San Diego Humane Society locations to FFF. We so appreciate Diane, Patricia, and Wendi for transporting!

Meet our new Frosted Felines!
🐈‍⬛Gilbert: Formerly “Barkface”. 10 years old and seized in the Julian case.

🐈‍⬛Bella: Initially surrendered into care with another cat in 2022 due to their owner passing. Came back into care on 5/12 after her owner was hospitalized. She’s 16 years old!

🐈‍⬛Kali: 13 year old Kali was initially brought in for humane euthanasia. During the appointment, it was determined that pathway may not be necessary for her and she was surrendered instead. The person who came in was also not her owner but said he was told she was consistently vomiting and they could not afford care.

🐈‍⬛Hamilton: He is 15 years old and was surrendered due to his owner moving.

🐈‍⬛Hot Lips: Formerly named “Grandma,” Hot Lips was brought in as a stray and is 11 years old.

🐈‍⬛Fiona: 12 year old Fiona was brought into care by her owner’s ex-wife who informed staff that her owner was no longer to care for himself to Fiona.

If you’re loving all these rescues, please help us sustain our rescue efforts by becoming a $25/month Frosted Fan. Register at www.frostedfacesfoundation.org/fans/

Come meet everyone any day between 10am-3pm. This is a super sweet crew!

VOLUNTEER OF THE WEEK
May 25th - May 31st

Rebecca Henshaw is the Volunteer of the Week!

Rebecca shares, "I'm incredibly honored to be recognized, but the real stars are the Frosted Faces!

Volunteering with senior dogs has been an incredibly rewarding experience. They have so much love, personality, resilience, and joy to give, and they are worthy of every chance to spend their golden years feeling safe, cherished, and loved.

I've been fortunate enough to help in a few different ways, including volunteering for shifts at the adoption center, temporary fostering, donating, and sharing photos and videos of the dogs. It's a small contribution compared to everything this community does each day, but I'm grateful to be part of helping these amazing dogs get love, visibility and ultimately find their forever homes.

Frosted Faces Foundation is truly a special community of people who come together to give senior dogs the dignity, comfort, and happiness they deserve. If you've ever considered volunteering, fostering, adopting, or donating, I can't recommend it enough. Even small contributions can make a meaningful difference in a dog's life.

Thank you for this recognition and for allowing me to be a small part of the incredible work being done every day for these deserving seniors."

Thank you, Rebecca!

Moe's dad took advantage of our Safety Net Services so he could undergo treatment. Unfortunately, life doesn't always work out the way you want it to and Moe was ultimately abandoned in our care.

We did our best for him placing him with a series of fosters and listing him for adoption, and after over 6 months in our care, this youngster finally got chosen!
