✨ Today’s : Miazi! ✨

We're closing out the week with the adorable Miazi! This handsome little low-rider is a recent rescue from Barstow, where he was at risk of euthanasia. At just about 10 months old, we believe he's a Dachshund/Terrier mix, and he's already winning hearts everywhere he goes.

Miazi gets along wonderfully with other dogs. Because he's not the most dominant pup, we've been thoughtful about matching him with the right playgroup, and it's paid off! His current friends are all about playing, chasing, and having fun, and Miazi fits right in. He loves wrestling with his buddies almost as much as he loves soaking up attention from people.

At around 16 pounds, Miazi is likely fully grown—or very close to it. He's the perfect size: small enough to take almost anywhere, but sturdy enough for neighborhood walks, weekend adventures, and easy hikes. He has a nice medium energy level and seems eager to learn. While he'll still need the typical training and guidance that comes with a young dog, he's highly motivated by praise and treats, which should make him a quick study.

Miazi would likely thrive in a home with another playful dog, but his friendly nature and easygoing personality should also make him a wonderful family companion.

✨ Today's : Nickel! ✨

Can we all take a moment to appreciate how adorable Nickel is? Between his ears that seem to point in every direction and his adorable cow-spotted coat, this little guy is off the charts on the cuteness scale. But Nickel is much more than a handsome face—he has the sweetest, happiest personality to match.

At just 12 weeks old, Nickel is expected to grow into a medium-sized dog, around 30–40 pounds. While we're not exactly sure what breeds make up this unique pup, he could be a pocket pittie, a pointer mix, or something entirely his own. Whatever his breed, one thing is certain: he's going to be a stunning dog.

Like any young puppy, Nickel will need the training, patience, and guidance that come with welcoming a baby dog into your home. He's affectionate, playful, well-balanced, and eager to please, making him a great fit for many different types of families. He'll thrive with plenty of exercise, socialization, and positive reinforcement. A home with another friendly dog or opportunities for regular playdates would be a huge plus!

Nickel would make a wonderful family companion and should do well with respectful children who understand his young age and small size. He's the perfect mix of sweet, silly, and affectionate—and he's guaranteed to bring endless smiles, laughter, and puppy kisses.

✨ Today's : Azalea ✨

Some dogs just need a little time to bloom. 🌸

When Azalea first arrived at The Barking Lot from Imperial County, she was shy and unsure of the world around her. Since then, she's been living in a foster home with our director, where she's had the chance to decompress, settle in, and discover that life can be pretty wonderful.

And wow, has she blossomed.

Now 3 years old, Azalea is a happy, confident little dog with an adorable low-rider body and a personality that's impossible not to love. We believe she's a Border Terrier/Jack Russell mix, though there's clearly something else mixed in there that gifted her those extra-cute short legs.

One thing is certain: Azalea absolutely loves other dogs. She thrives in the company of canine friends and would do best in a home with another dog (or two!) to help her continue building confidence and enjoying life. In her foster home, she lives with dogs of all sizes and personalities and gets along beautifully with everyone.

Azalea is playful, fun, and easygoing. She enjoys attention and affection but isn't clingy or demanding. She's perfectly content hanging out with her people, joining in on family activities, and then entertaining herself when needed.

While she's probably not built to be your next marathon training partner, she'd happily join you for neighborhood walks, weekend adventures, and family hikes. She'd also do well in an apartment as long as she's getting the exercise and enrichment she needs.

If you're looking for a sweet, social, well-rounded dog who has already done the hard work of coming out of her shell, Azalea may be the perfect addition to your family.

✨ Today’s : Matrix! 🐾

Looking for a sweet, gentle little companion with soulful eyes and a heart full of love? Meet Matrix. This adorable scruffy boy may be shy at first, but give him a little time and patience and you’ll discover one of the sweetest dogs around.

Matrix is about 3 years old, around 10 lbs, and recently rescued from the overcrowded Barstow shelter, where so many wonderful, highly adoptable dogs are at risk simply because there isn’t enough space. We’re so grateful Matrix now has a safe place to wait for the forever home he deserves.

When Matrix first arrived, he was understandably timid, but every day he grows a little braver. Now he happily comes up to volunteers for pets and affection, and his gentle personality is starting to shine. He does great in a playgroup with other small dogs and would thrive in a calm, quieter home where he can continue building confidence at his own pace.

Because of his small size, Matrix doesn’t need a ton of exercise, but he’d love leisurely walks around the neighborhood or tagging along for daily adventures. He’d do well as an only dog or with another canine companion.

And honestly… those eyes? Completely unforgettable. 💛

✨ Today’s : Judy! 🖤

Judy came to us from Soi Dog Foundation in Thailand, and while she was very shy at first, she’s slowly blossoming into the sweetest, most affectionate girl. At just 2 years old and 35 lbs, this beautiful Jindo mix is finally starting to show us her true personality.

When Judy first arrived, we had her in a playgroup with several more assertive dogs (including other Soi Dogs), and she preferred to stay quietly on the sidelines. Once we moved her into a calmer group with gentler, low-key dogs, she really began to come out of her shell. Judy absolutely enjoys the company of other dogs — she just thrives best with mellow friends like herself.

At Soi Dog, staff noted that Judy was friendly with everyone, and now we’re beginning to see that side of her shine through. Judy has been through so much already. She has been at Soi Dog since she was just one month old after her mother was injured in a car accident. Traveling all the way from Thailand to California is a huge adjustment for any dog, especially one who spent her whole life in one place. Now that she’s settling in, we’re finally seeing her affectionate spirit emerge.

Judy loves walks and is wonderful on leash. She would make an amazing hiking companion for an active home, and we think she’d do especially well with another calm, friendly dog. While she does well with everyone, she definitely gravitates toward quieter canine companions. Right now, she’s happiest in a playgroup with smaller and medium-sized mellow dogs.

Judy is such a sweet, sensitive soul, and we know that once she’s in a loving home environment, she’s truly going to shine. 💕

✨ Today’s : Braathen! 🖤

Braathen came to us with his brothers, Feller and Moltzan, after they were surrendered to Kern County and quickly found themselves at risk of euthanasia. Thankfully, they made their way to safety — and now Braathen is ready to find the loving home he deserves.

This handsome Min Pin mix is about 3 years old and weighs 20lbs. Braathen is a shy but incredibly sweet boy who just needs a little patience to let his personality shine. While he may be reserved when meeting new people, a few treats and a calm approach go a long way, and once he warms up, he becomes a gentle, affectionate companion.

Braathen does wonderfully with other dogs and enjoys spending time with both his brothers and the other dogs in his playgroup. He would do great joining an existing pack or living with another friendly dog who can help boost his confidence. He’d also thrive in a quieter home environment where he can settle in at his own pace.
He has moderate exercise needs and would enjoy neighborhood walks, weekend adventures, or relaxing at home with his people. At 20lbs, he’s the perfect medium size — small enough to scoop up for cuddles, but sturdy enough to join you on outings and adventures.

Braathen is the kind of dog who rewards patience with deep trust and loyalty, and watching shy dogs like him blossom in a home is one of the most rewarding things.

✨ Today’s : Kaillie! 🐾

Looking for a dog who can slide right into your family and become your new best friend? Meet Kaillie — a beautiful 6-year-old Collie mix with the perfect blend of intelligence, affection, and adventure spirit.

Kaillie already knows all of her basic commands and absolutely loves showing them off. She’s friendly with people, great with other dogs, and has moved beyond the chaotic puppy phase while still having plenty of energy for hikes, jogs, beach days, or any adventure you want to share together.

Like many herding breeds, Kaillie is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and deeply loyal. She has some classic Collie herding instincts, but what shines most is her happy personality and that bright, joyful smile that lights up every room she walks into. ❤️

Kaillie and her friend Kaysha were owner-surrendered and found themselves at immediate risk in an overcrowded LA shelter. Thankfully, we were able to rescue them in time. Kaysha has already found her forever family — and now it’s Kaillie’s turn.

✨ Today’s : Molly! 🤍🐾

Just when you thought we couldn’t possibly have more amazing dogs to share… along comes Molly. ✨

Molly and her brother Milo were found crated in the backyard of a home when an HVAC technician working on the property convinced the owner to relinquish them so they could finally have the life they deserve. These sweet pups are under 1 year old, around 15 lbs, and appear to be Maltese/Poodle mixes.

Molly is everything you could want in a companion — friendly, affectionate, playful, and impossibly photogenic. Seriously… narrowing her gallery down to just 10 photos was nearly impossible because she looks adorable in every single one. 📸💕

Despite her rough start, Molly is full of love and joy. She’s wonderful with other dogs and thrives in her large playgroup, happily making friends wherever she goes. She has a fun, playful side without being over-the-top, and she balances her energy perfectly with cuddle time and affection.

She’s slightly more outgoing than her brother Milo, but both are incredibly sweet dogs who are simply happy to be loved. It’s hard to imagine how anyone could leave dogs like these sitting in crates outside instead of showering them with attention all day long.

Molly would fit beautifully into so many homes — whether as your one-and-only best friend or joining an existing pack. She enjoys walks, short hikes, playtime, and snuggling up afterward. She’s the kind of dog who makes every day brighter. ☀️
We’re so grateful she now has the chance to find a family who will cherish her the way she deserves.
