There are more than 11,000 children in foster care across North Carolina.

That's not just a statistic.

That's 11,000 children with names, stories, dreams, and needs.

And it's 11,000 opportunities for us—as a community—to make a difference.

The foster care journey isn't one organization's responsibility. It takes all of us. That's why NC for FAMs exists—to strengthen collaboration, connect communities, and help nonprofits, churches, businesses, and individuals work together so children and families are better supported.

This summer, the children at Salem Baptist Church's Vacation Bible School showed what it looks like to care for children and families in a tangible way.

Together, they collected bags and bags of brand-new birthday gifts for Wake House along with the sweetest hand drawn birthday cards, gift bags, wrapping paper, and tissue paper!

Every toy, game, and gift was given with one purpose: helping a child feel celebrated.

These gifts will become part of Wake House's birthday shelf, where biological parents can choose a brand-new present to give their child during family visits around the time of their child's birthday!

That choice matters.

Instead of handing over a used toy or having nothing to give at all, parents have the opportunity to pick out a special birthday gift for their son or daughter. It's a simple way to offer dignity, preserve the joy of childhood, and remind families that their community is cheering them on!

THANK YOU Salem Baptist Church - we are so grateful for every child, family, and volunteer who made this possible!

One church. One Vacation Bible School. Hundreds of opportunities to remind families they're not alone. 💙
