We are still trying to put into words just how grateful we are ❤️🚨🤍🏒

Because of YOU, our Meet Jaccob Slavin + See the Stanley Cup raffle and blind auction raised an incredible $8,650 for NC for FAMs!

A HUGE thank you to Forward Agency for making this incredible opportunity possible, and to Jaccob Slavin and Kylie Slavin for so generously using your platform and time to support children and families impacted by foster care.

It was also such a privilege to be in the room alongside 19 other incredible nonprofits doing beautiful, meaningful work in our state and beyond. Getting to see so many different missions represented-and so many people using what they have to make a difference-made the morning even more special.

To every single person who bought a raffle ticket, placed a bid, shared a post, tagged a friend, donated, or helped us spread the word-THANK YOU.

And a BIG congratulations to the Jones family and the Horan family, our raffle and blind auction winners! We hope this was an experience you’ll never forget! 🏆

$8,650 is incredible, but what it represents is even bigger: a community choosing to show up for kids and families.

We are committed to changing the foster care crisis in North Carolina by bringing churches, nonprofits, agencies, businesses, and individuals together to strengthen families and make sure no one walks this journey alone.

Let’s finish Wake House together!

We are officially in the home stretch of the Wake House Project, and we have an incredible opportunity to help get us across the finish line.

A generous donor has offered NC for FAMs a $20,000 challenge grant to help us complete the Wake House — but we only receive the $20,000 if we raise $20,000 first.

That means we need our community to come together and raise $20,000 by October 31. If we reach our goal, the donor will give an additional $20,000, bringing $40,000 total toward completing the Wake House.

But it’s all or nothing. If we don’t raise the full $20,000, we don’t receive the $20,000 challenge grant.

And we are SO CLOSE to finishing this project!!

The Wake House is being transformed into a warm, welcoming visitation center where children in foster care can spend time with their biological families in a space designed to feel less like an office and more like home.

After months of renovations, donations, partnerships, and so many people saying YES, one of our last BIG purchases is the high-quality, commercial-grade furniture needed to complete the space.

So this is our BIG, BIG PUSH. 💙

We need individuals, families, churches, businesses, and our entire community to help us raise $20,000 — so we can unlock another $20,000 and get this project across the finish line!

What we love most about collaborative work? The biggest wins for us are when the organizations we partner with are succeeding. ❤️

The work we get to do alongside organizations like The Hope Closet is only possible when we come together around one shared goal: supporting the foster care community well.

We love connecting the people and organizations who are already doing incredible things, cheer them on, and make the collective impact even greater.

So when our partners are thriving, we’re some of their biggest cheerleaders! 📣

Grateful for The Hope Closet and the way they continue to show up for social workers and foster families. This is what collaboration looks like. 💙

The Hope Closet was invited a few weeks ago to speak to Wake County child welfare social workers about our services and how we can support the families they serve. While The Hope Closet has already established itself as a referral partner for Wake County Child Protective Services and Wake County Public School System social workers, we were especially grateful for the opportunity to connect with child welfare social workers across Wake County and share how our resources can help families experiencing crisis.

This opportunity grew from a simple initiative focused on building relationships and expressing gratitude. Each month, The Hope Closet distributes goodie bags to social workers at the Wake County Southern Regional Center as a small way to thank them for the important work they do for children and families. Through this effort, we have connected with members of the child welfare community and have helped respond to multiple cases over the last several months. This meeting was an opportunity to share our services to a broader group of social workers.

The idea behind the monthly goodie bag initiative was spurred through our partnership with NC for FAMs, a collective of organizations committed to supporting children in foster care, families reunifying after foster care involvement, and individuals transitioning out of foster care. The Hope Closet works alongside these organizations to help provide essential household items to individuals and families as they navigate significant transitions. We are always looking for individuals interested in making goodie bags and helping deliver them- an opportunity great for a small group.

What began as a simple way to say “thank you” has opened the door to deeper collaboration and greater awareness of the resources available to families. We are grateful for the opportunity to share how The Hope Closet can help social workers quickly meet practical needs—from beds and furniture to linens, clothing, kitchenware, hygiene supplies, and other household essentials—and look forward to continuing to strengthen these partnerships throughout Wake County.

Churches want to make a difference.

Some are called to give financially. Some have volunteers ready to serve. Some have families who are passionate about opening their homes.

Others simply want to know where to begin.The good news? Everyone can do something. And honestly... that'll preach on a Sunday morning.

At NC for FAMs, we love partnering with churches to help them discover how they can support children and families impacted by foster care and adoption. Whether it's connecting them with local nonprofits, equipping a foster care ministry, serving foster and adoptive families, or finding practical ways to meet needs in their own community, we believe every church has a place in this mission.

When the Church becomes the hands and feet of Jesus, families are encouraged, children are loved, and communities are transformed.

If your church is looking for ways to get involved in foster care, adoption, family preservation, or supporting the nonprofits already doing this work, we'd love to connect. Let's work together to make sure every church knows that they can make a difference—because everyone can do something. ❤️

Some stories don't need many words—they simply remind us why this work matters. ❤️ We are so grateful for partners like Foster Hope who create spaces where children can simply be kids...and where brothers and sisters can be together again.
