The Capital City Lawyers Association is deeply saddened by the news of this morning’s shooting involving members of our local legal community here in Raleigh.

Our thoughts are with the attorneys involved, their families, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragic incident. We are hoping for their safety, healing, and recovery as more information becomes available.

Moments like this remind us that beyond the courtroom and our professional roles, we are a community. We encourage everyone to keep those affected in their thoughts and to support one another during this difficult time.

Thank you to everyone who joined CCLA last week for “The Mental Marathon: Wellness and Identity in the Legal Profession.”

We are incredibly grateful to our outstanding panelists—Judge Rhonda Young, Senator Sydney Batch, Carena Lemons, and Chazlé Woodley—for taking the time to engage in such an honest, thoughtful, and important conversation about mental health, burnout, identity, and resilience within the legal profession.

These are the kinds of conversations our profession needs more of, and we are proud that CCLA’s 35th Anniversary year continues to create space for meaningful dialogue, community, and support.

Thank you as well to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make the program impactful. We look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the year.
