Empowering individuals for more than 50 years, Telamon/TRC is a multi-state nonprofit providing an array of housing and financial empowerment services in DE, GA, IN, MD, MI, NC, SC, VA, and WV. In 1965, the Migrant Project of the North Carolina Council of Churches submitted its first proposal to the Office of Economic Opportunity to provide education, development projects, summer school programs,
and housing services for migrant farmworkers in North Carolina. Following architectural styles of ancient Greece, early Roman builders adapted the use of human figures called “Telamons” that were symbolically cast as column supports for buildings. Our organization’s name references our dedication to providing supportive services to our communities, helping them build firm foundations to improve their own lives. Throughout the history of the organization, various programs and services have been refined and added to better serve both farmworkers, as well as the general public. Today, the agency employs nearly 2,000 individuals in 11 states who provide life-changing programs and services to nearly 25,000 individuals and families each year. Telamon's Housing and Financial Empowerment programs represent one of the three distinct lines of business that focuses on helping individuals and families become financially stable and locating safe and affordable housing. Our team of housing advisers, financial coaches, and industry partners work with more than 6,000 families each year, helping them build better financial futures that, in turn, create better communities.
