North Carolina Victim Assistance Network

North Carolina Victim Assistance Network NCVAN is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit that advocates for victims of violent crime, especially surviving family members of homicide victims.

Through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, NCVAN supports the rights and well-being of surviving loved ones of homicide victims and others harmed by violent crime in North Carolina. This means that we:

Help victims understand the investigative/criminal process. Refer victims to specialized trauma-informed counseling services. Provide peer support though our Homicide Support Group. Help

victims navigate other systems/processes such as victim’s compensation, estate probate, funeral service, and insurance, to name a few. Provide post-trial advocacy especially if/when an incarcerated offender is considered for release/parole.

We invite family members, loved ones, friends, runners, walkers, allied professionals, and all community supporters to join us for the 14th Annual Know Hope 5K Walk/Run Remembering Victims of Homicide.

This event honors the lives of those taken by violence while raising critical funds to support NCVAN's statewide services.

Whether you are a competitive runner participating in our professionally timed 5K, a walker supporting the cause at your own pace, or a virtual participant joining us from your hometown, your involvement supports those affected by violent crime.

NEW: This year, a community of virtual supporters is meeting in Fayetteville to participate together at Vander Park - 128 Rock Hill Rd Fayetteville NC 28312. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have questions about this gathering.

Last weekend, 14 volunteers - to include loved ones of homicide victims - donated 3 hours of their Saturday to help w**d, plant, and trim in our NCVAN Victims' Voices: Silent No More Crime Victim Memorial Garden in downtown Raleigh. We are also grateful to board member Tina Mast from Homewood Nursery & Garden Center for the continued partnership and donation of seasonal plantings as well as expert care of our garden. Thank you for ensuring that these grounds remain cared for and loved throughout the year.
