It's the end of an era. WNKS Kiss 95.1 in Charlotte, NC will eventually switch to Christian format K-Love. Terms have not been disclosed yet.
For the record. Kiss is beating rival Hits 96.1 in the 12+ demo. Guess even decent ratings in today's standards can't stop the CEOs when a million dollar signed check hits their desk.
Maney & Lauren, the morning show who also has dominated the ratings in morning radio in Charlotte on Kiss 95.1, will move to Classic Hits K104.7. Where I'm sure they'll be secretly searching for their next Top 40 morning show adventure. As they should.
As someone who was interested in radio in the early 2000's. I enjoyed hearing Eric Tyler and CJ on then 96.1 The Beat battle it out at night. Listening to two epic morning shows like Ace & TJ and Brotha Fred, and so many more.
Kiss 95.1 is a legendary station in CLT and some great talents came from this brand. For more than two decades, Ace & TJ in the morning became a household name. So much so that listeners here in Greenville would bounce between their show in CLT and our location station on B93.7, Hawk and Tom.
To those in the media, listeners in Charlotte, and current and past on air talents who've been on Kiss, this is the loss of a true legendary brand.
