We’re so lucky. Because we get to help Pumpkin heal ❤️‍🩹

After being shot two weeks ago, Pumpkin arrived in our care with a long wound across his back and side from the bullet’s path. Thankfully, it missed his vital organs, but poor Pumpkin has been suffering, and he still has a long road ahead.

Pumpkin needs antibiotics, pain medication, daily wound care, and close veterinary monitoring as his injuries heal. We’re only able to provide that care with your support.

Please consider donating today via the donate button below. Your kindness can be the reason why injured pets, sick pets, and pets with no one else to help them get the second chances they deserve.

Despite all he’s been through, Pumpkin is still smiling. Thank you for your support and for being the reason that Pumpkin gets to feel happiness, love, and healing.

More, more, and more! Throughout 2026, we've been seeing more of your smiling faces and giving out more vaccines/microchips at our pop-up clinics than ever before. This past weekend was no exception, with a record-breaking 410 pets and their people coming out to see us! We loved every second of it!

When we shared Lola Bunny with you this summer, she had just been found as a wounded stray, limping on a shattered leg and in desperate need of help. Since then, so much has happened.

Your support carried Lola Bunny through the first important weeks of her orthopedic recovery, from X-rays and pain management to stabilizing her injured leg. And once she was steady enough to continue her recovery at home, an amazing family stepped up to take the baton.

What they’ve done with that baton is nothing short of incredible.

They’ve given Lola Bunny endless love and comfort. They’ve made sure she feels at home with her doggy siblings. They’ve arranged their days around her recovery. And after working closely with their veterinarian, Lola Bunny’s family even opted for reconstructive surgery to help her leg heal faster.

Recovery has taken some time, but this week we got the news we’ve all been waiting for: Lola Bunny’s cast is officially gone, and she’s healed! ❤️

To everyone who supported Lola Bunny, followed her story, shared her posts, or simply cheered her on: thank you for being part of her journey. To her incredible adopters: thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Thank you for staying by her side, celebrating each moment of progress, and giving her the safe, happy life she deserves. We’re so happy she has you.

They're so tiny 🥹

C***r and Crumble were left at one of our transfer partner shelters and since the moment they arrived in our care they've been winning over our hearts with their pocket-sized adorableness. They're less than 6 lbs a piece so naturally our staff have been brainstorming all the different ways we can show off how perfectly petite they are.

Dress them up in American Girl Doll clothes? Carry them around in the pouch pockets of our hoodies? Crochet them little hats? If you can think of any other ideas, please send them our way. Cuteness like this deserves to be maximized.

C***r and Crumble are only 6 weeks old so they won't stay quite so itty bitty. But we'd bet our bottom dollar that no matter how much they grow, they'll still bring so much happiness to their future families. They aren't quite ready to be adopted just yet, but keep an eye on our adoption gallery at spcawake.org/dogs 💙 These teeny tiny kiddos will make an appearance there soon 👀

We knew this day would come. And while we are heartbroken, we're also so deeply and completely thankful ❤️

When we originally shared Thimble's story back in April, we knew her time would be limited. She was born with malformed kidneys, a terminal condition with no cure. We sent out a plea for someone who would love Thimble anyways – someone selfless and compassionate who would bear the weight of looming grief in order to give a special dog a happier life. You all spread the word. And Thimble's incredible adopter walked through our doors.

Recently, Thimble's mom reached out to let us know her sweet girl had passed away.

For the last 5 months, Thimble got to live in a home instead of the shelter. She enjoyed cuddles on the couch, lazy days sprawled out in the sun, and unconditional love from her mom. And that's exactly what Thimble deserved.

Thank you to everyone reading this and everyone who followed Thimble's journey. Thank you for everyone who donated to support her care. And an extra special thank you to Thimble's mom: from all of us in this community, we are forever grateful that she had you ❤️

Do you have a crazy dog? Do you want another crazy dog to occupy your crazy dog, so that they can be crazy together while you take a deep breath and enjoy your morning coffee? We've got you covered. His name is Magawa.

Magawa is high energy, excitable, and always ready to play. But he has an unfortunate tendency of getting too mouthy with his human friends. Luckily, we've discovered something that helps: It's called ✨OTHER DOGS✨

Magawa loves wrestling and rolling around with other dogs. The look on his face when he meets another dog willing to imitate WWE with him? Pure joy. He's met 6 other dogs since arriving in our care and each time his face lights up like a kid on Christmas morning that's just been given access to the most glorious present ever. All he wants is dogs, dogs, and more dogs.

If you've got an overzealous canine companion that you really wish had a friend, but are afraid they'll be "too much" for most other four-legged critters, Magawa might just be the key. Learn more about him at spcawake.org/dogs 🐶

PS: Today and tomorrow (Saturday Sep 26 and Sunday Sep 27) adoption fees are waived at SPCA Wake ❤️

"That's a big fella". We hear this every time someone new meets Ol' Man Hopper. He's 104 lbs(!), calm, and sweet. A friend to other dogs, cats, and kids. He's the kind of dog that makes you appreciate the loyalty of man's best friend.

He's also been with us over a month now without being adopted 😢

We know that senior dogs are less likely to find homes. But we also know Hopper. And we know that no matter how much time you get together, he'll squeeze a lifetime worth of love into it. He's just that good of a boy. If you're able to bring happiness to Hopper's golden years, please don't wait. Head to spcawake.org/dogs to start the adoption process for Hopper.

PS: This weekend, Saturday September 26 and Sunday September 27, adoption fees are waived at SPCA Wake ❤️

We've got a rare case of The Orange 😳🧡

09/22/2026

And just like that, Peppa Pig and Albie Einstein are off to start their new lives! 🥳🎉

We couldn’t have dreamed up a better match for this whacky, lovable pair if we'd tried. Not everyone is in the position to adopt two dogs at once, but when one of those dogs is blind AND deaf like Albie, finding the right fit becomes even harder. But here's the twist: Albie and Peppa's new family already have TWO dogs that are both blind and deaf!

When they saw Albie, they knew that their home had all the love and experience he'd need to thrive. And when we told them about his bonded buddy Peppa, they said the more the merrier!

Thank you to Albie and Peppa's wonderful new family for opening their hearts and their home ❤️
