Happy Labor Day, everyone!

As our country celebrates and honors the importance, value, and dignity of human work, let us show gratitude to all workers, especially members of law enforcement, emergency services, the healthcare industry, the armed forces, and everyone who has to work today.

On this Labor Day, we must continue to preserve and defend the dignity of workers and of labor, especially in an age of artificial intelligence and changes within the workplace. Just as industrialization presented challenges to workers and human dignity in the 19th Century, so too does automation and artificial intelligence in the 21st. Let us take time this Labor Day to reflect on the contributions of labor and of all those who work and renew our efforts at preserving the dignity of all workers.

Thank you to all workers, especially those who have to work today.

Have a safe, restful, and happy Labor Day!

Happy Fourth of July! As we celebrate this Independence Day, let us remember all those who fought for our country and who have lost their lives in service for others. Let us always remember that freedom is never free.

Therefore, let us be thankful for the service of others and recognize all the good our country has to offer. May we be emboldened in our striving of "a more perfect Union."

May God continue to bless the United States of America.

Happy 250th Anniversary to the United States Army! Here's to 250 years of service, strength, and sacrifice!

From the depths of Valley Forge to the beaches of Normandy to the heart of Vietnam to the deserts of the Middle East, the U.S. Army gave so much of themselves for so many of us. All the freedoms and benefits we have at home is from the sacrifice of those same freedoms of those abroad. To everyone serving in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Armed Forces, thank you for your bravery, courage, and willingness to sacrifice yourselves for us here at home. Thank you to the veterans of the Armed Forces for sacrificing years at home for years of service abroad. In a special way, we offer remembrance, gratitude, and prayers to those who never made it back home, to those buried in Normandy and on the battlefield, to those who sacrificed their very lives in service of those who could not defend themselves.

May this day of celebration and honor of 250 years embolden us to continue serving our neighbors - at home and abroad.

May God bless the Armed Forces and protect them from all physical and moral evil. Amen.

Greetings everyone,

I am Adam Harp, and I will be serving as the 89th Student Attorney General of the North Carolina Student Legislature (NCSL) for the 2025-2026 school year. I am currently a student at Western Carolina University (WCU), majoring in Political Science & International Studies, along with a minor in Business Law.

Additionally, I am active in the student government association as a senator and in the Catholic Campus Ministry at WCU. My Catholic faith inspires and challenges me to engage in public service and fuels my dedication to the student legislature. I am committed to the pursuit of the common good through respectful debate, humility through listening, and unity through mutual understanding.

The Office of Attorney General is focused on preserving the order and the integrity of the student legislature through enforcing the Constitution, Bylaws, Standing Rules of Order, and the Code of Ethics in collaboration with members of the Council of State, especially with the Student Governor, Matthew Simonson. To fulfill this responsibility, I strive to enhance everyone's understanding of the governing documents of the student legislature and of Robert's Rules of Order, the basis for parliamentary procedure.

Together, the student legislature will form future leaders of North Carolina, and together, the 89th legislative year will be the most successful year yet.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to speak at the North Carolina Political Science Association (NCPSA) conference at Meredith College.

Alongside Governor Gbedji and delegates from Western Carolina University (WCU), I discussed what NCSL is and how colleges and universities can get involved. It was a fantastic experience, as it allowed me to connect with professors from across the state and attend other insightful presentations.

Hello everyone!!

My office will be hosting a Parliamentary Procedure Webinar over Zoom on March 11th, at 7:00 PM!! This is a great opportunity for delegates to improve their knowledge on parliamentary procedure, as well as understand the new organizational documents that were passed (Code of Ethics & Standing Rules). Whether you've been in North Carolina Student Legislature for years or just now starting out, there will be something for you to learn! The Zoom link will be sent to Delegation Chairpersons prior to the start of the Webinar.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Webinar!
