Earlier this week, our Board of Directors, partners, and staff headed to Cherokee, NC for our quarterly board meeting!

The visit began with a guided bus tour through some of Cherokee’s most remarkable assets, including the stunning Soco Falls, Whitewater Landing, and several other sites that highlight the region’s natural beauty. Along the way, our group enjoyed the famous Cherokee canned water, a small but memorable symbol of the community’s identity and hospitality.

In the evening, everyone gathered at the Selu Garden Café for a relaxed reception filled with great food, warm weather, and even warmer conversation. Board members, staff and partners from across the state connected in a setting that showcased the beauty of Cherokee and the strength of the relationships that drive North Carolina’s economic development work forward.

The following morning, our board meeting brought everyone together for important discussions on hurricane relief, Western North Carolina tourism, and statewide economic development updates. A highlight of the day was the fireside chat between Chief Michell Hicks of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and our very own Chris Chung, who spoke about the shared opportunities ahead and how the EBCI and EDPNC can work together on meaningful economic development ventures that benefit communities across the region.
