With the nomination from Retired Astronaut, Buzz Aldrin to my son, Chris, to come to Boston, MA in June as a Delegate for North Carolina, I started this page trying to raise money in every way we can and accomplished this with your help! He attended the conference over the summer. I wanted to keep this page updated on his progress as a thank you to all of those that helped get him to Boston. We co
uldn't have done it without you! They invited him to come back next year as long as he kept up with the requirement that Chris maintains a 3.5 gpa or higher. He also has to have teacher recommendations submitted for the next conference next summer. Chris is now in 10th grade with all AP and Honor classes and has a 4.5 gpa at Knightdale High School here in Knightdale, North Carolina. Chris is very dedicated to his schooling and does his best at everything he sets out to do. Chris is on his high school's swim team, as well as theater arts club in which he was just inducted into the National Thespian Society. He is also participating in Student Government. Chris has numerous awards ranging from the A Honor Roll, Attendance, Academic Achievements, National Junior Honor Society, Durham Superintendent Award (for 7th grade) as well as participating in the Duke University Robotics Program two years in a row and many other awards. This opportunity for Chris to go to this Congress meeting will further his education in science and technology, a field in which he will be entering when he is in college. He is actually taking classes now to get a college credit per class while attending his high school. For 11th and 12th grades, he will be going to the School of Mathematics and Science, which is a college. He will be taking high school and college courses and staying on campus. Chris has always been a dedicated student and while participating in Student U of Durham, he even taught a science class.
